Super User .dsaavedra. Posted September 7, 2008 Super User Posted September 7, 2008 got a little tired of my old design (after making over a dozen of them in a short period of time) so i came up with a new design. i took a picture of a gizzard shad, stretched it a little along the X axis, so it is more long and narrow instead of short and fat, and i came up with this: Quote
MichiganFisherman Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Looks good, man. Can't wait to see some paint on it. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted September 7, 2008 Author Super User Posted September 7, 2008 thanks this one will recieve a photofinish of a gizzard shad Quote
MichiganFisherman Posted September 7, 2008 Posted September 7, 2008 Awesome. Is that basswood? You're giving me ideas for my next swimbait. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted September 7, 2008 Author Super User Posted September 7, 2008 yes its basswood. 97 cents for a 5x7x3/8" piece at walmart. Quote

Super User .dsaavedra. Posted September 7, 2008 Author Super User Posted September 7, 2008 just gave it a real quick bucket test with out hooks and it is a medium sinker, and it sank tail first. with hooks it will probably be a medium fast sinker and will probably sink level. sweet Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted September 7, 2008 Author Super User Posted September 7, 2008 sinks a little less than 2 foot per second with hooks and a clip on the nose Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted September 10, 2008 Author Super User Posted September 10, 2008 still waiting to get on the water and test this thing out..... : Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted September 12, 2008 Super User Posted September 12, 2008 Looks nice! Tomorrow's my birthday, do you need someone to try it out for you? ;D Quote
Super User Sam Posted September 12, 2008 Super User Posted September 12, 2008 Unlike Bassboy15, Dave is on the cutting edge in bait design. All he has to do is to get his masters or Ph.D. in mechanical engineering and we have ourselves a wonderful bait designer that will be a valuable individual to the fishing industry after he graduates college. So keep an eye on Dave and his designs as his future is bright. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted September 12, 2008 Author Super User Posted September 12, 2008 awww shucks Quote
Super User Hookemdown. Posted September 13, 2008 Super User Posted September 13, 2008 Unlike Bassboy15, Dave is on the cutting edge in bait design. Sam, you're a funny guy. ;D Quote
MichiganFisherman Posted September 13, 2008 Posted September 13, 2008 Where's the finished pics? Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted September 14, 2008 Author Super User Posted September 14, 2008 Where's the finished pics? been waiting to test it before i finished it. i finally got out on the water tonight to test it. it swims like a snake! very fluid action, only downside is that it doesnt start swimming until a fairly fast pace. tried to get a video but i failed :-[ ;D gonna put the photofinish on it tomorrow Quote
MichiganFisherman Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 sweet. can't wait to see it. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted September 14, 2008 Author Super User Posted September 14, 2008 yeah should be done by monday or tuesday. i'll try and get a better video after its all finished. Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted September 14, 2008 Author Super User Posted September 14, 2008 i photofinished it this morning. turned out pretty nice. this might take a little bit longer to finish because i am going to put epoxy on the pieces 2 at a time, so it may be a little while before its done. im not in a rush, i'd rather have a nice bait than a quickly finished bait heres a pic of the bait before epoxy (sorry for the blurr...) Quote
bmadd Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 That looks awesome man. I agree on taking your time for a better looking bait. Can't wait to see the finished product. Quote
MichiganFisherman Posted September 14, 2008 Posted September 14, 2008 Nice work. That photofinish looks awesome. Quote
