Low_Budget_Hooker Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Could some of you guys show me what you use to dry lures. Please explain construction and components if it's home made. Thanks Quote
Super User .dsaavedra. Posted August 30, 2008 Super User Posted August 30, 2008 LBH, not sure if you visit www.tackleunderground.com or not, but if you have never been there, you should definitley check it out...its the "bass resource" of lure building there is a great member submitted tutorials section of the site, but the site is doing some construction so the tutorials are currently unavailable. there are two good tutorials for building drying wheels. i'm sure there is some information available on the forum about making drying wheels, just do a search Quote
BIG M Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 I used a rod turning motor and some scrap wood I had. Attached a 8"round wood disc from the hobby store. What type of baits do you plan to turn, that will determine what type of drying wheel you need. I can only turn smaller bass sized cranks on mine. Quote
BIG M Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 here is my simple but effective drying wheel Quote
Low_Budget_Hooker Posted September 1, 2008 Author Posted September 1, 2008 Big M, what would I need to buy to build that (and where-motor)? I have the wood and hardware. Quote
BIG M Posted September 1, 2008 Posted September 1, 2008 LBH, it's a rod turning motor. You can find them at any place that sells rod building supplies. I used a switch from a lamp building kit for the power. I found a big box of those little clamps at Sears. Quote

mayassa Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 Lowes has rotisserie motors on sale for grills, might work Quote
MichiganFisherman Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 A drill can be rigged up to use as a drying wheel. Quote
cootertom Posted September 9, 2008 Posted September 9, 2008 I use a barberque rotisserie motor, a 18 inch aluminum plate with alligator clips attached to it. Works great and holds 24 cranks. Quote
