Awesome baits Dave, I really like the look of that baby bass, and the way the colors fade into each other on the shad.

Those look awesome! I really like the shad colored one a lot. The bluegill photo finish is really nice too.

Keep up the good work.

wow that bluegill is awesome. what technique is that that gets such a detailed finish? did you actually paint that by hand?

Man, you are really improving quickly! I've checked out some of your other stuff and the finishes are night and day.

I'm curious about the photofinishing process. I assume you take a printing of the fish and then apply it to the bait. What is it printed on? How is the paper applied and what type of clear coat do you use?

Thanks and keep crankin em out.

please tell me which of my previous lures look bad! ;D really, i dont think any of them look bad, but i do agree that these are my best.

as for the photo finish, the picture is printed either on printer paper or tissue paper and then applied either to foil or foil tape and then applied to the bait. epoxy clear coat.

after dinner tonight i am going to thin the epoxy with denatured alcohol so that it is thin and easy to brush and then put epoxy on these bad boys!

thanks for the compliments.

either the baby bass or the bluegill always seem to be everyone's favorite ;)

the thinned epoxy worked great! the bluegill looks even awesomer with the epoxy clear coat :)

as for selling them, i might sell a few. i dont want to get overwhelmed with having to make them for other people that it loses its fun.

WELL....

i got the lure finished. well at least i thought they were finished. i put 2 coats of thinned epoxy and got a satisfactory clear coat, but then when i put them in a bucket of water to see their rate of fall, they all floated!

so now im not quite finished. i gotta go out and drill some more holes and pour some more lead and then cover up with paint and epoxy. THEN i'll be finished....

lesson learned.... test before finish.

That blue gill one looks great bro.

thanks!

i now have them all weighted properly so they sink about a foot per second (maybe a little slower) and they sit on their hooks when they reach the bottom. all that is left is to fill in the weight holes with epoxy. then i'll be catching some fish on these!

A little tip here.    You need to figure out a way to put the same amount of weight in each bait.   Instead of pouring melted lead into a hole, use an egg sinker or something similar that you can weigh.   That way you can reproduce the bait time and time again without the opps I need more weight.

All three baits look really good.   Now you've got me wanting try the sinking swim bait again.

They look real good Dave.  Everyone is probably going to like the bluegill more but I think the baby bass is my favorite.

thanks guys!

Big M, give it a shot, if i can do it surely you can ;)

Jimzee, i like the baby bass too. i like the two that are hand painted a little bit more than the bluegill. although the bluegill is total sexyness. i guess i like them all equally. :)
