Heron Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 If you had only one rod (Baitcaster 7ft MH), to use for all of your baits, and all of your fishing....what would be your best preferred line to use, for handling everything? Quote
Super User Choporoz Posted March 19, 2015 Super User Posted March 19, 2015 I'd probably put 10 or 12 pound Yo Zuri on it. Set it and forget it. What could be simpler? 2 Quote
ColdSVT Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 Black sewing thread...definetely black sewing thread With a mustad hook for sure 1 Quote
Super User new2BC4bass Posted March 19, 2015 Super User Posted March 19, 2015 In my area it would be 12# mono or co-polymer. Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted March 19, 2015 Super User Posted March 19, 2015 I'd go with 30lb braid, an assortment of leaders and a Revolver . . . . A-Jay 1 Quote

Super User F14A-B Posted March 19, 2015 Super User Posted March 19, 2015 With all due respect, I would quit fishing! The Answer is, Yozuri #12, tomorrow I may say #10, so.. 10 or 12, lol Quote
Heron Posted March 19, 2015 Author Posted March 19, 2015 2 votes for Yo-Zuri. Both for mono I presume. Ok, why Yo-Zuri rather than other brands of mono? Quote

Smokinal Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 20 or 30 lb Super Slick with a couple different fluoro leaders; Probably 12lb and 16-17lb. Quote

Heron Posted March 19, 2015 Author Posted March 19, 2015 So theres 3 votes for braid. Im kind of leaning away from braid though. Only because Im finding that I dont have much need for neither its great strength, or great sensitivity. All of my fish are/have been caught by pulling a bait with a slow, steady retrieve, through water that is mostly devoid of vegitation. But I'll take this into consideration. Quote
Ozark_Basser Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 You may be right Yeah. It's kind of a big hit on this forum as well as being a good choice if one only had one line to use. Quote
Ozark_Basser Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 If leaders could be used, I'd chose braid though. Quote
Heron Posted March 19, 2015 Author Posted March 19, 2015 Yeah. It's kind of a big hit on this forum as well as being a good choice if one only had one line to use. Im not famiiar with it at all. But I will check it out. What are some of its best attributes? Quote
Ozark_Basser Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 I rarely fish with copolymer. I have bought some before made by P-line. Its supposed to attain all the attributes of mono, but with the fluoro coating, it is supposed to be invisible...... It fished like mono, that's all I remember. I have since switched to braid on every rod that is used for single hook baits and frogs. I just tie on leaders. Quote

Ozark_Basser Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 The only attribute I would find truly appealing about copolymer vs mono would be the added abrasion resistance due to the fluoro coating. Fluoro is not invisible. Quote
Ozark_Basser Posted March 19, 2015 Posted March 19, 2015 http://yo-zuri.com/Products/Yo-Zuri_Fishing_Line/details/Yo-Zuri_Hybrid.html I guess yozuri put a new twist on copolymer lines. Interesting, but I think I'll stay with braid with a leader. Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted March 20, 2015 Super User Posted March 20, 2015 I started on it in 99 been pretty impressed with it over the years, especially in rocks/riprap, I still use it in #20, flipping/pitching.. The stuff is just tough as nails..some folks don't care for its handling characteristics, it doesn't bother me at all. Quote

Super User F14A-B Posted March 20, 2015 Super User Posted March 20, 2015 Does it float? To some extent, but not as you may relate to say, braided line, or dry mono, ( before mono absorbs)Yo doesn't absorb water, like mono. I use # 8 crankbaiting a lot.. Pretty much # 4 to # 20 on most things. I do use other lines though. Sounds like your successful with braid/ leader, I wouldn't change either I suppose, if I were content with it. Quote

I usually just throw straight mono with those. I'll probably just stick with regular mono. I dont see any advantages of copolymer for those techniques, especially if it doesn't float. Quote
