Super User Hi Salenity Posted March 1, 2015 Super User Posted March 1, 2015 Me and my brother are planning a trip to Lake Fork on March 26th for a few days. I've never been to Fork so any advise would be great. I've done some searching and it looks like Mustang and Glade may be good places to fish? I'll also need to know of a good place to stay. 2 Quote
Smokinal Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 Are you going to hire a guide, tow your own rig or find a rental boat there? Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted March 1, 2015 Author Super User Posted March 1, 2015 I'm bringing my boat. Quote
Smokinal Posted March 1, 2015 Posted March 1, 2015 ^^^Gotcha, after a not-so-great guide experience on Falcon, I would have some tips on choosing a guide. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted March 1, 2015 Author Super User Posted March 1, 2015 We thought about hiring a guide but decided against it. We may hire a guide later in the year and fish for Redfish in Louisiana. Quote
Super User Catt Posted March 2, 2015 Super User Posted March 2, 2015 Tom Redington's web site has detailed reports on fishing lake fork. As for Red fishing Louisiana I live 10 minutes from Calcasieu (Big Lake) Lake which is one of the stops on the Red Fish Tournament Trail. 1 Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Think small and be prepared to fish behind 100 boats. Fork that time of year is super crowded. I've always had my best luck throwing a 4" Grandebass Rattlesnake on a shaky head. Matter of fact, caught my only over on that Rattlesnake. Glade is a great plac to start. Look for roadbeds Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 2, 2015 Global Moderator Posted March 2, 2015 Dang, I'll be off that week from the 26th through the 31st. I'll just hide in your livewells until you get down there 1 Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted March 2, 2015 Author Super User Posted March 2, 2015 Is it just that lake that's crowded or are all the good lakes in that area going to be crowded? Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted March 2, 2015 Global Moderator Posted March 2, 2015 If I thought for a second I could swing it, I would try. Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 Is it just that lake that's crowded or are all the good lakes in that area going to be crowded? All lakes will be somewhat crowded that time of year, but Fork is by far the worst. I'm not exaggerating when I say I've fished in mustang and counted 50 boats in a small area. Quote
fishcaller Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 Bass f is correct there will be lots if boats around there. Scenic 515 cabins is a nice place to stay. 1 Quote

Bass_Fanatic Posted March 3, 2015 Posted March 3, 2015 K C log cabin is an awesome place to stay if your looking! It's on Dale creek and there is great fishing right there close. It is a little pricey, but it's a beautiful place Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted March 24, 2015 Author Super User Posted March 24, 2015 It looks like we are staying at Lake Fork Marina. I think that's on Mustang? My question now is how much rain did the lake get? It looks like between the rain/wind and a cold front it may be tough for someone that's never seen the lake before. How clear is the lake? If I knew that it would help me pack... Quote
Super User Catt Posted March 24, 2015 Super User Posted March 24, 2015 Once again Tom Redington's web site, the most detailed report you can ask for. Quote

bighed Posted March 25, 2015 Posted March 25, 2015 Well, they are catching them off beds right now so I guess the water is not too bad. The lake has come up several feet in the last month or so. Lake Fork Marina is one of the better places to stay on Fork. Quote
