Super User J Francho Posted February 16, 2015 Author Super User Posted February 16, 2015 Actuall it was the "new lady" lol. My buddy, who runs a snow plow company, had both his knees replaced, and loaned one of his plows to his next door neighbor so she could take care of both their driveways. She got stuck on her way over, lol. It was so easy, I was inspired and bought my own tow strap afterwards. I'll probably never use it, buts there. 1 Quote

I carry 2 straps as well (need the extra length) - really have to here - used it 4 times in 8 years - the people we pulled out appreciated it. A-Jay Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted February 16, 2015 Super User Posted February 16, 2015 Well down here in Virginia they are calling for up to 10" of snow or so and if my past experience here repeats itself, everything will be shut down for most of the week. I used to always keep a tow strap in my Jeep just for pulling people out of the snow and mud but haven't gotten one yet for my current Jeep. I am looking forward to the snow and hopefully we get enough so i can take my son sledding since he hasn't gone yet in his nearly 5 years of life..... 1 Quote

Super User clayton86 Posted February 16, 2015 Super User Posted February 16, 2015 I don't want anyone in these snow threads whining about how hot it is this summer lol Quote
Super User slonezp Posted February 17, 2015 Super User Posted February 17, 2015 How true. Of course the odds got all fouled up when I decided that I would never run for political office in Chicago. Does that matter? Our governors are the ones that go to jail Quote
Super User DogBone_384 Posted February 17, 2015 Super User Posted February 17, 2015 Memphis is CLOSED. Does that mean you have 3 - 6" on the ground? I worked a trade show in Nashville once and they got about 3", or so, and the whole place shut down. The only ones out on the road were those of us from cold climates with rent-a-dentals. Kind of a trip, but I can see if you live somewhere where you don't get snow, you'd have a tough time driving in it... I'm on the coast, just south of Boston, and we've gotten between 4 - 5' this month. Spring will be here soon, and when this melts, the water levels will be nice and high... Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted February 17, 2015 Super User Posted February 17, 2015 we have at least 4-6" already here in Richmond and supposedly the majority of it is not supposed to start falling till now....it will be interesting to see what the totals end up being tomorrow morning. Quote
VolFan Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Does that mean you have 3 - 6" on the ground? Being from Memphis, I think you forgot a decimal. Memphis shuts down at the idea of snow, much less any actual accumulation. However...ice storm '94 was no joke. Quote
ABW Posted February 17, 2015 Posted February 17, 2015 Here in Indiana we haven't had any snow accumulation all winter and now we have like 5" Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted February 17, 2015 Super User Posted February 17, 2015 2" of ice, 16* last night, 0* tomorrow night and snow on Friday. Saturday 57* then back down on Sunday with a rain/ sleet/ snow mix. Is this crazy or what? Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted February 17, 2015 Super User Posted February 17, 2015 I think we ended up with about 8-10" and now it is sunny but still cold so a lot of the roads are melting. I don't think we are supposed to be above freezing here for about a week or so with highs in the 20s. It will be interesting to see if schools are closed tomorrow or a two hour delay. Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted February 18, 2015 Super User Posted February 18, 2015 Here are a couple videos of sledding yesterday https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10203326304733574&l=5912117243262737114 https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10203326291093233&l=3815959773572020181 https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10203326267332639&l=443971301251295798 https://www.facebook.com/video.php?v=10203326277572895&l=2439563259517910150 Quote

Super User everythingthatswims Posted February 19, 2015 Super User Posted February 19, 2015 Today is the third day I am out of school because of snow (only 5-6"!)....Normally when it snows it isn't cold enough to freeze ponds and rivers, so I get to fish.....And if we had these cold temps w/o the snow, I could at least ice fish, but the snow just keeps the ice unsafe. Spent the past 2 days towing a kayak behind a UTV and it's getting old Quote
