kingmotorboat Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 To go with mono for my soft plastics. I tried fluorocarbon and it feels like im casting wire. Is there such thing as a more sensitive mono? If so i need a few suggestions br. Also im new to soft plastics which is why im in this dilemma Quote
a1712 Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 There is more sensitive mono, it's called Co-Poly. There are better brands of Floro that are better suited to spinning reels, I've used McCoy for the last 5 years and haven't looked back. Brian. 2 Quote

kingmotorboat Posted January 5, 2015 Author Posted January 5, 2015 I cant find yozuri anywhere here i see it gets such high praise here. I have found pline cx at academy though Quote
SenkoGuru Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I'm just wondering, was the fluorocarbon you tried the Vicious brand? That stuff is like throwing bailing wire. 2 Quote
TorqueConverter Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 The line you're looking for is called "braid". 1 Quote
kingmotorboat Posted January 5, 2015 Author Posted January 5, 2015 Its #12invisx. I have braid spooled on another reel but in lightly stained to clear water probably not a good idea. Its not gin clear. But does have a greenish tint Quote
Super User *Hootie Posted January 5, 2015 Super User Posted January 5, 2015 The line you're looking for is called "braid". Mono is called braid?....I did not know that. Hootie 3 Quote
kingmotorboat Posted January 5, 2015 Author Posted January 5, 2015 Im trying to find a good line for greenish tinted water for soft plastics and jigs outside of fluorocarbon. Visibility may be 3feet to 5 feet. And i fish shallow Quote

Super User Raul Posted January 5, 2015 Super User Posted January 5, 2015 I fish with nylon maybe 95% of the time and I dare anybody to prove I'm fishing with the "wrong" line. It ain't the arrow, it's the injun. 3 Quote

kingmotorboat Posted January 6, 2015 Author Posted January 6, 2015 I dare anybody to prove me that nylon lacks of sensitivity. What kinda line do you use Quote
SNK Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 No reason not to give mono or a co-poly a try. There was a time that all there was was mono, people still caught fish. Here's another suggestion, why not go braid and use that invisx as leader material? Quote
georgeyew Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 I use the green Big Game in 12lb and 15lb for various soft plastic lures. I like it just fine and see no reason to change. It's plenty sensitive for me. 1 Quote
Super User Raul Posted January 6, 2015 Super User Posted January 6, 2015 What kinda line do you use For more than 3 decades: Berkley Triliene Big Game most of the time. Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 6, 2015 Super User Posted January 6, 2015 Try braid and a copoly like Yo-Zuri Ultra. Quote
kingmotorboat Posted January 6, 2015 Author Posted January 6, 2015 Will check in to all of these. Whats everyones opinions on seaguar senshi Quote
Super User flyfisher Posted January 6, 2015 Super User Posted January 6, 2015 I dare anybody to prove me that nylon lacks of sensitivity. is there a measurement for sensitivity because if not, then there is no way to prove you're right or wrong other than the personal experience factor. For me, sensitivity is not nearly the same for bottom bouncing baits with mono or flouro as compared to braid. Braid offers me superior sensitivity and i know i have caught more fish because of switching over to it. Your mileage may vary but i have a feeling that even if you fished braid and liked it, you would never admit it. Quote
kingmotorboat Posted January 6, 2015 Author Posted January 6, 2015 I fished braid but in clearer water its cost me fish i feel. And i dont know about a leader. Its hard for me to cast with a leader from a bank Quote
Super User Raul Posted January 6, 2015 Super User Posted January 6, 2015 I fished braid but in clearer water its cost me fish i feel. And i dont know about a leader. Its hard for me to cast with a leader from a bank Why ? Unless you make one hell of a bulky big knot connecting the leader to the braided line there's absolutely no reason why you won't be able to cast with a leader tied to your main line. Quote

About how long of a leader would i need? Im fishing in a pretty crowded area Quote
Blues19 Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 I have fished mono with soft plastics, jigs, spinnerbaits, shoot, ive fished it with everything. Its easy to manage and casts well. I dont have any issues with sensitivity. I have used Sunline Flouro, Braid, Yo Zuri Hybrid. All kinds of stuff. I still rig a few rods up with Trilene Big Game and have caught many, many, many fish on it. Shoot I was fishing jigs on some 12 lb big game last year and was beasting a lot of fish. I wouldnt think its crazy at all. At very least, get a spool of Mono and try it out. Its a lot cheaper to try mono out than Flouro. If you dont like it, try out braid or something else. I feel Mono gets a bad rap at times. Its not bad line, and like others have mentioned, it caught fish for a LONG time before all these other lines came out. 1 Quote
