Green Trout Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 How are are Cavitron Buzzbaits? I am looking to get into Buzzbait fishing because it seems like a fun way to catch fish. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted January 4, 2015 Super User Posted January 4, 2015 I have used them in the past and had success with them. I would say they work just as well as most buzz baits. The gurgling sound they make is pretty cool. Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted January 4, 2015 Super User Posted January 4, 2015 Last year was my first using buzzbaits. You cannot go wrong with Cavitron. I personally prefer the 3/8 white. Quote
Super User gardnerjigman Posted January 4, 2015 Super User Posted January 4, 2015 I've never thrown one. Hear A LOT of guys on here love them and, from the pics, for a good reason. My buzz of choice is a tie between the Omega Alpha Buzz, or the Croc-o-gator head knocker 1 Quote
KDW96 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Buy one in black with black blade. and youll buy more. 1 Quote
Super User Catt Posted January 4, 2015 Super User Posted January 4, 2015 You will not find a better buzzbait 1 Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted January 4, 2015 Super User Posted January 4, 2015 It's the only one I throw Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted January 4, 2015 Global Moderator Posted January 4, 2015 This was the first time I fished one, biggest bag of buzzbait fish I've ever caught. All on 3/8oz black on black, yeah, I'm a fan 1 Quote
Super User 00 mod Posted January 4, 2015 Super User Posted January 4, 2015 Yep, they work! My favorite buzz bait. Jeff Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted January 4, 2015 Super User Posted January 4, 2015 Bobby just came out with a 1/2 oz Cavitron that a lot of guys have been asking for. http://www.megastrikefishingproducts.com/shop/cavitron-lure-buzzbait/ 2 Quote
Super User Sam Posted January 4, 2015 Super User Posted January 4, 2015 Green, they are excellent. You can reel them slow and they still stay on top of the water. And their "squeak" is not high which I think can scare the bass away. Once you set up your baitcaster to avoid backlashes you can cast and start to reel as soon as the Cavitron hits the water's surface or right before. Enjoy! Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted January 4, 2015 Super User Posted January 4, 2015 Since buying Cavitrons, I no longer want to throw any other buzz baits. You can't beat them. 2 Quote
timsford Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Yes i have some in 1/4 oz. 3/8 oz is my favorite. Black or white cavitron with black, gold, or red blades are the only buzzbait i throw 1 Quote

My buzz of choice is a tie between the Omega Alpha Buzz, or the Croc-o-gator head knocker You don't hear about the head knocker anywhere other than LOZ, but they are excellent buzz baits. The blade actually hits the head, which gives them a very distinct sound. Quote
dday07 Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 i've mentioned before..i use diff. buzzbaits in diff. situations..most have there own sound.....in clear shallow water i use tri-vibe from strike king...more of a quieter flutter sound that doesn't scare the fish. At night i fish the clacker buzzbait from boo-yah...all others i use a cavitron. Quote
bkohlman Posted January 4, 2015 Posted January 4, 2015 Love my Cavitrons! By far my favorite buzzbait due to how slow it can be retrieved. A very fun bait to use, you will enjoy it! Quote
Super User HoosierHawgs Posted January 4, 2015 Super User Posted January 4, 2015 My advice would be to buy a few different brands of Buzzbaits, some on the lower end, some on the higher end, maybe some in the middle in terms of price (or jst whatever few brands will fit well into your budget) and give them each a good amount of fishing time to truly test their worth, and then pick the one that you like the best and fish it. 1 Quote

Big Swimbait Posted January 5, 2015 Posted January 5, 2015 I love the Cavitron. But sometimes I want to throw into some areas that I know I won't get it back. That's when I switch to the D&M Buzz Saw. The wobble head EWG hook let's me rig it weedless with a trailer. http://www.dmcustombaits.com/the-buzz-saw-2/ 1 Quote

bassinyea Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Cavitrons are awesome. I caught a lot of nice fish on them last year in the spring and fall. I only have 4 buzzbaits I ever throw. 3/8 and 1/4 black blade black skirt cavitron and 1/4 and 3/8 oz white with red blade. Fish the 3/8 oz ones when there is a decent wind and chop on the water and fish the 1/4 oz ones when the water is pretty calm. Seem to do better with black on black earlier in the year when the fish first start hitting them and when its dark. Around May during the shad spawn and in the fall I do better on the white. My friend and usual tournament partner has 25 buzzbaits from 15 different lure manufacturers and spends more time trying to figure out which one to tie on than actually fishing. I end up catching more on a buzzbait than he does. With buzzbaits dont over-analyze just tie one on and keep it in the water. 1 Quote
tbone1993 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 I caught tons of fish on the ghost color until I backlashed and got it hungup on a laydown while bank fishing. Havent had the same luck on white as I lost that one on a bad knot.. Quote
