Ozark_Basser Posted December 5, 2014 Posted December 5, 2014 What size split ring do I need to connect the blade to the jighead? I'm going to order them online and I don't know anything about split ring sizes. Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted December 5, 2014 Global Moderator Posted December 5, 2014 Make sure you get quality ones or you'll ruin a bunch putting them on and have them pull apart while you're fighting fish too. 1 Quote
Super User smalljaw67 Posted December 5, 2014 Super User Posted December 5, 2014 Barlows tackle has stainless and one made from spring steel, you want the spring steel, the difference is the spring steel will close even when opened further than they were maeant to. 1 Quote
Ozark_Basser Posted December 6, 2014 Author Posted December 6, 2014 I bought a whole bunch of owner hyper wire split rings. Size 2's Quote

Yeah I didn't realize how hard they were to put on until I just did my first one with my hands. Much harder than taking them on and off cranks and hooks. Good thing I have some split ring pliers coming in the mail. Quote

I learned the hard way with the cheap split rings as well, d**n things wont close back after you open them. Glad you got some quality ones. 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 9, 2014 Super User Posted December 9, 2014 I've got a few different pairs of split ring pliers. A micro screw driver still works best for me. Poke the flat blade through, and then twist it to open the ring. 3 Quote
Super User buzzed bait Posted December 9, 2014 Super User Posted December 9, 2014 good call on the owner split rings. i tried some cheaper mustad rings before and had the issue of them opening up, but not really closing back all the way. those hyper wire split rings are legit. and i'm going to have to try Jfrancho's suggestion on the small screwdriver. the split ring pliers work, but sometimes they can be a little more cumbersome than they should be.... 1 Quote
Super User J Francho Posted December 9, 2014 Super User Posted December 9, 2014 Owner, Sampo, Spro.... all make good split rings. Quote

Super quality split rings you've mentioned. I definitely recommend those that Barlow's has to anyone. 1 Quote
