The curado E is the equivalent of the current chronarch E. They and the stx are all good reels. The stx has more/different features as in dual brakes and full floating spool and a few other lesser differences. What don't you like about the stx?

I'd say so... Not a Abu fan myself. That E 7 is not really old.. I would jump on it!

Yup Gen 3's quality control made me switch abu to shimano I have one gen 3 stx left that doesnt have any problems but still gets out performed by all of my shimano's.

I just dont like the way it feels in my hands.... not used to that small design.. used to the bigger reals ... Im sure they is a name for that design but I dont know it....

I don't have a Gen 3, but do have a Gen1 STX and Curado 201E7.  I'd guess that the Gen 3 didn't grow to a bigger size than the Gen1 given the trend is towards smaller and lighter.  So if you don't like the small size of the STX, then you won't like the E7 either.  They appear to be the same size to me.  However, given what I have read about the Gen 3 reels, I would trade for the E7.  They are very nice reels.

This^^

The Gen 3 reviews are some of the worst reels Abu has made. Plus with the Chronarch E series around you can interchange a good majority of the parts.
