Texas Pride Posted November 10, 2014 Author Posted November 10, 2014 I dont know who that is I have all the above lol i have casting and spining and hevay action and light action my main rod i use is a cassting rod 7ft6in medium heavy line wt 10-30lbs lire wt3/8-2 cabelas fish eagle graphite with a quantum ultrex ul1008 i heard longer rods are better for jigs my other main one is a medium light action h2o express 7ft spinning rod thouse are my two main rods i have one other bass rod but dont really like it and im on a limmeted budget thats why i only have three bass rods Quote

As far as brands are concerned i would suggest you start with something cheap since jigs have a way of getting themselves snagged. Check your local sporting goods store for sales. 2 Quote

I think he's holed up somewhere, reading the responses to the 49 questions he asked in his first 50 posts.... ;-) As for the jig question, I don't think you could go wrong by buying some 3/8 or 1/2 oz. jigs at Wal-Mart. I like green, brown/green, PBJ, or black/blue. I think it's hard to go wrong with trailers, either; just get something that looks sort of crayfishy... I like Missile D-Bombs, Berkley Pit Boss, Strike King KVD Chunks and Yamamoto Flappin' Craws. Tight lines, Bob Quote

Although I do like throwing the Bitsy Bugs on spinning gear. You should save your money and wait until Black Friday to find some good deals. Quote

I like the 1/4-1/2 oz black/blue and black/red. pretty much any of the colors work just depends on the situation and these can be found under 3 bucks... Mitch Quote

I fish fairly deep reservoirs with lots of rocks, stumps, etc. If I fished a more weedy lake or pond, a flipping or pitching jig would be my first choice. Quote
Texas Pride Posted November 11, 2014 Author Posted November 11, 2014 Well i caught my bass with a jig so im guess im some what doing right it was a strike king jig a greenish color with brown flakes in it and i got four other bights i guess they were tuging on the trailer which i noticed it was already starting to tear some it was one some one gave me when imentioned it was my first time fishing one and trying to figur it outand he noticed i dident have a trailer which was kinda embbarising anyways i was wondring how offten do yall change trailers Quote
War Eagle 44 Posted November 11, 2014 Posted November 11, 2014 I'd suggest a Dirty Jigs arkie head jig in 3/8 or 1/2 oz. I think the actual product name Dirty Jigs uses for this style head is "Pitching Jig" but I could be wrong. Dirty Jigs is my favorite jig brand by far and I have quite a few of their jigs in different styles. The arkie head is such a versatile head shape that it works in a wide variety of situations. As far as colors go I'm with the rest of the guys here, preferring greens first then browns and lastly the tried and true black & blue. Good Luck. 2 Quote

I'd probably go with a 3/8oz head as it will cover a lot of fishing situations. I change trailers out when I need to. Sometimes you'll go through one without ever catching a fish. I've been using the new Zman Batwingz jig chunks and have used one for 2 trips now and caught a couple dozen fish on it and it's still fishable. Most jig trailers are only going to be good for a few fish though. Quote
