Big Jon Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 I took my wife fishing this Saturday. She wants to go fishing every day now. I usually go every morning until I have to go to work. She even picked up a baitcaster and was a natural at it. The bad news is that she only wants to use my favorite rod. I'll have to save up money to get her a good one. (she doesn't want a cheap combo like the other two I have) The good news though, is that she is already scheming on ways to get a boat. 1 Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted October 27, 2014 Super User Posted October 27, 2014 So, what exactly happened that has her hooked? Quote
Big Jon Posted October 27, 2014 Author Posted October 27, 2014 So, what exactly happened that has her hooked? The whole experience. The funny thing is that she caught one really small white bass. She hated the spinning reel, but when I gave her the baitcaster, she was all for it. I don't know really, but at the end of the day it was getting dark, and she just kept saying, "This is the last cast." Quote
DFrench97 Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Thought you actually hooked her reading the title! Congrats though! 1 Quote

Big Jon Posted October 27, 2014 Author Posted October 27, 2014 Does she have a sister? Three actually, the youngest is not taken. 1 Quote
Slefler Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Minneola huh? You're not too far from me at all. Congrats she sounds like a "keeper". 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 28, 2014 Global Moderator Posted October 28, 2014 Mine goes with me and does pretty well when she actually fishes, but she's far from "hooked". Quote

Chief 2 Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 Mine will come with me, but if she isn't catching fish after about 1 hr. she wants to ride around and look at houses. It drives me nuts! 1 Quote

I was surprised actually, since she wanted to keep fishing for a few hours before she caught one. Quote
Super User Sam Posted October 28, 2014 Super User Posted October 28, 2014 My wife used to go with me and lay on the back deck and read a book. Growing up on a Pennsylvania dairy farm has her 100% not interested in fishing. I will admit that when I hook a bass and let her reel it in is an adventure but she has fun doing that. Glad your wife is interested in fishing. You both can take the kids fishing to share the love of the sport with them. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted October 28, 2014 Global Moderator Posted October 28, 2014 Treat her right http://www.stcroixrods.com/products/freshwater/avid-pearl X2. I bought my wife an Avid Pearl with a Quantum PT Energy spinning reel, partly because it was "pretty" and the combo she wanted, partly because all the other pink rods she liked were junk and I figured it was better to spend the money on a nice setup that was easier to fish with (way fewer tangles) and help keep her interest when she does go fishing with me. They're super nice rods with thinner handles to fit in smaller hands better. 3 Quote
Djf3864 Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 I am glad you are happy your wife likes fishing, and wants to get a boat (I would like my wife to be on board with this, but I will just end up buying it on my own). To be perfectly honest I don't want my wife to fish, it is my time away to do my own thing with my dad and brother. Quote

Big Jon Posted October 29, 2014 Author Posted October 29, 2014 To be perfectly honest I don't want my wife to fish, it is my time away to do my own thing with my dad and brother. I can understand that. I enjoy my alone time, but I recognize that she might go only once in a while. Once I get a boat, she will probably want to go more often. Quote
Big Jon Posted October 29, 2014 Author Posted October 29, 2014 Me too. lol. I was looking for a picture too. Yeah, I can see that, based on the title. Maybe I should have been more clear. Quote

rhino Posted October 30, 2014 Posted October 30, 2014 Mine would go every time I went if she could but we don't always have a sitter for the kids. Her goal is to be able to load and unload the boat herself and go by herself sometimes and me keep the kids like she does for me most of the time. Quote
