Airbrushing Soft plastic?

Can you use an airbrush on a softbait to add color to it?  Do you need to put some sort of coating on it after so the paint stays? thanks

That's an interesting concept. I'd like to hear your results. I'm betting somebody here has experimented, and knows what type of media to use.
