Super User bigbill Posted October 25, 2014 Super User Posted October 25, 2014 But I haven't been out much due to my illness. The water shed has been purchased by the town and is open for fishing. Carry in boats only with electric motors only. But my point is don't give up because it's cold. I remember itchin to go fishing in one November in the cold. I was throwing a pearl 6" YUM Money minnow. I was using a dying minnow presentation. I had snow flurries, when my 6' old bass rod never bent in half so bad. I fought the fish for ten minutes. Until it spit my hook. I think I'm going to force myself to go fishing soon before the ice is on. If it snows the better. I'm not sure what fish was on my line but it was big. My point is don't stop fishing because it's cold and snowing. 1 Quote
Super User Shane J Posted October 25, 2014 Super User Posted October 25, 2014 Are you saying that some people STOP fishing? Haha. Never heard of something so crazy! 1 Quote
Super User Oregon Native Posted October 25, 2014 Super User Posted October 25, 2014 Get well soon (hopefully)...last year was rough for me too. Missed quite a few fish due to being bent over with pain. Would rather enjoy fresh air ...rain,snow, or sunshine than a stuffy house. Good luck....again....get well. Quote
Super User Raul Posted October 25, 2014 Super User Posted October 25, 2014 Oh yes, it´s getting cold. Down here it´s barely 85°. 1 Quote

Super User Crestliner2008 Posted October 25, 2014 Super User Posted October 25, 2014 Cooling off rapidly here in New England for sure. Last year was a disaster. Winter hit us before mid November. Hopefully this season will be extended beyond that. We won't stop fishing until the boat cannot break through the ice on the launch. Quote
Super User Sam Posted October 25, 2014 Super User Posted October 25, 2014 And there is a possibility that you will have a big ice and snow storm at the end of November. Not been totally confirmed but it is looking that way. "Wxrisk.com added 2 new photos. *** ALERT *** MAJOR EAST COAST STORM OCTOBER 31-NOVEMBER 2 - POSSIBLE... HEAVY MOUNTAINN SNOWS ?? - PROLONGED 2 to 3 DAY EVENT *** NOT YET A CERTAIN FORECAST *** European Model is most aggressive with this but the event is now showing up on Canadian (CMC) and the GFS (USA) models . Yes, this poses a threat to the night of October 31st on the East coast from NYC to South Carolina. DETAILS.... several maps here. The first 2 maps are the 500 MB (more or less Jet Stream maps) that show this event COULD develop. The first maps a huge ridge over the West Coast & Rockies which in turn allows for a strong piece of energy (#1) over south central Canada to drops SE into system #2 over the Delta. These 2 systems MERGE (called phasing) over the Tennessee Valley into a VERY powerful Upper Level Low. IMAGE #2 shows a HUGE intense Upper Low over Georgia. If this was January, February or March this map would be screaming MASSIVE Southeast US/ Tennessee Valley/Virginia and North Carolina snowstorm. The Low then lifts SLOOOWLY up the east coast." Personally, I sincerely hopes this does come to fruition. Quote

Super User bigbill Posted October 27, 2014 Author Super User Posted October 27, 2014 My stopping point has been when the ice is on. But I'm feeling the cold really bad already. Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted October 27, 2014 Super User Posted October 27, 2014 Oh yes, it´s getting cold. Down here it´s barely 85°. A bit nippy here this morning, hope it brings the bluefish in. I'll be back in shorts and t shirt this afternoon for some bass fishing. I don't fish under 62 degrees any more, left that working outdoor sub zero weather behind me. No Mas ! Quote
Chief 2 Posted October 27, 2014 Posted October 27, 2014 Started out Friday morning in a sweatshirt and jacket. By 10AM I was down to a short sleeve shirt. I love this time of year here in Fla. but sure do miss my lake in upper NYS. Fishing in NY is way better than here. Quote

Super User bigbill Posted November 27, 2014 Author Super User Posted November 27, 2014 My water shed is owned by the town now. No one has been fishing it for many years I don't think it's ever been open to the public. Sounds like the springtime will be awesome bass fishing in a untouched place. My only problem for night fishing is a 350/400lb local bear. He's been in my backyard already. And seen near where I plan on fishing. Quote
