Guest whittler Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Foiled baits look neat but they sure are time consuming to make. Quote
BIG M Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Foiled baits a one giant pain in the rear, but it looks great. That is a very interesting scale pattern on that bait. Good work John. Quote
Super User Munkin Posted March 30, 2007 Super User Posted March 30, 2007 They do take some time and practice. Have you tried that printing pictures then glueing them to the foil yet? Allen Quote
Guest whittler Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Allen, I have done some of the photofinish baits but it is one more step than the foil plus getting the picture printed on the tissue is a bigger hassle. You can get a bait that looks like the real thing but I have never caught any more fish than a standard paintjob. Quote
jasone Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Whittler I spent half of last night trying to figure out how you did those scales on your foil. Figured it out this morning. All I can say is AWESOME!! I completely never though about that. I've used ratchet handles, all thread rods. I've even hand drew them. That is the best technique ever. J Quote
Guest whittler Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Sometimes you just have to think backwards, if its hard to put the pattern on the foil then put the foil on the pattern. This was not my idea Jason, can't even tell you where I got it but it sure is neat but if you had to pay for that finish you could buy a couple of customs. Quote
Cephkiller Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 Have any of you ever tried the embossing powder? My wife uses this for crafting and I was thinking it might work well for lures with a protective finish over it. You brush it on as powder and then melt it with a heat gun. It turns out really shiny.
