BucketmouthAngler13 Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 I'm going to stock up on jigs and place a massive order on jig heads and skirts. I was wondering, how dense is a 40 strand skirt? About average? How about 60 strands? edit Oh yeah, how do snootie jigs pull through algae? Thanks Matt Quote
Super User 5bass Posted April 19, 2007 Super User Posted April 19, 2007 I like a thick skirt and 40 strands just dont get it with me. Not sure about those Snootie jigs though....never tried them. Quote
Guest avid Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 I knew a dense skirt once. But it was politically incorrect. Now I say "intellectual challenged female" Quote
Super User fourbizz Posted April 19, 2007 Super User Posted April 19, 2007 "intellectual challenged female" sounds like a fancy way of saying "woman" to me I'm gonna pay for that one! Quote
WhiteMike1018 Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Matt, you should be fine with the 40 strand skirt. As far as density i would just worry about size 3/8 ounce, 1/2 ounce etc...and if you need a slower fall, add a bulkier trailer -WM Quote
Super User Catt Posted April 19, 2007 Super User Posted April 19, 2007 Thin: 40 strands Average: 60 strands Thick: 120 strands If I were to order buck skirts I would also order a skirt tool Quote
Super User Munkin Posted April 19, 2007 Super User Posted April 19, 2007 They average skirt on a factory jig or spinnerbait is between 40-50 strands. If you are using the standard silicone skirt tabs form Jann's etc. they are about 22 strands per tab. On clear water baits I use 2 tabs, stained 2 and a 1/2, 3 for muddy water and the most I have ever used was 4 tabs but they had trouble fitting into the skirt collar. Allen Quote
