BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted September 21, 2014 BassResource.com Advertiser Posted September 21, 2014 The boss and I slipped away for a couple of days last month and headed to Tarpon Lodge at Pine Island Florida to do a little salt water fishing. A bunch of small snook and 5 bull reds between 28 and 31. We also caught jacks, rays, catfish, and a bonnet head shark. Juvenile Snook Nicoles First Bull 3 Quote

BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted September 21, 2014 Author BassResource.com Advertiser Posted September 21, 2014 Thanks guys. That was the first time we had ever been to Charlotte Harbor. Tarpon Lodge was awesome. Nice and comfortable and catered to fishermen. It was like going to the keys minus about 5 hours of driving one way. 1 Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted September 21, 2014 Super User Posted September 21, 2014 Awesome! I thought redfish had teeth? I remember catching them I could have swore they had teeth... Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted September 22, 2014 Author BassResource.com Advertiser Posted September 22, 2014 Awesome! I thought redfish had teeth? I remember catching them I could have swore they had teeth... They have grinders and strong jaws for crushing shellfish. They will break your thumb if you are not careful. 1 Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted September 23, 2014 Super User Posted September 23, 2014 Awesome! I thought redfish had teeth? I remember catching them I could have swore they had teeth... I have caught reds with "fangs" like sea trout, most don't have teeth though Quote

Do you ever head over towards Coco Bch and fish the power plant on the river or Honeymoon Island near Clearwater Bch? Nice looking Reds!! Did you keep any for the table? Quote
BassResource.com Advertiser FD. Posted September 24, 2014 Author BassResource.com Advertiser Posted September 24, 2014 I don't fish much salt. Usually a special vacation trip. We did not keep the reds. They were over the slot. 1 Quote
Chris S Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 If you ever get the chance to head over to the Space Coast they have some great Red fishing!! 1 Quote
kikstand454 Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Ditto for the forgotten coast! I have caught litterally hundreds of reds in my life, and never once did I see one with "teeth". They have the same little tiny ones bass have- and then they have huge crushers on their tongue and roof of their mouth. *shrug* You learn something new everyday I guess! 1 Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted September 25, 2014 Super User Posted September 25, 2014 I've just always thought they had teeth like in this pic on this other forum??? Do some have teeth and others don't?? http://www.pensacolafishingforum.com/f28/redfish-teeth-132997/#/forumsite/20519/topics/132997 Quote

Do some have teeth and others don't?? http://www.pensacolafishingforum.com/f28/redfish-teeth-132997/#/forumsite/20519/topics/132997 Those may be the biggest I've ever seen on a red. They have teeth like a bass. ... they're kind of under "lips" and aren't that prevelant unless you go looking for them. I lip redfish all the time. The problem with that is they don't stop trying to kill you once your hand is in their mouth, and the thrashing slowly saws your thumb off- like a big bass will. So I guess they HAVE teeth. ..to and extent. When I think of a fish with teeth. ... I'm visioning speckled trout and mackerel! Lol. 1 Quote
