I have been reading up on rodbuilding and I have a question about getting started? Right now I plan on getting the Flex Coat DVD but will this DVD explain; guide size and spacing, wrapping, and the other basic stuff? I am looking at rod kits but do not like the components that come with them so is there somewhere that I can find out what I need for a 6'6" ML spinning rod? Final question, is there any rod builders that I can order the parts from?

BTW: I checked out ReelMechs site and he has a lot of great stuff on there about rodbuilding!

I'd suggest starting with Reelmech's link and Kirkman's book, after that you will have way fewer questions.  I think everyone is a little overwhelmed on the first rod or two...   order a few extra guides on the first spinning rod, or else you'll eat up a week and a half waiting for the 1 size you didn't order!   :o

When you are ready to order you blank. Just order the blank and a set of calipers to measure it with. Measure the spot where you are going to mount the reel seat and also measure the tip. Then order the rest of the componants. This will keep you from getting the wrong size reel seat and tip and save you some money.
