So I have been experimenting with Wake Baits lately.  Love the Lucky Craft 2.5Wake, love THKO Custom Wakes.

ABSOLUTELY HATE THE ARASHI WAKE

The wobble is so big that it looks like it is just spiraling in circles.  Almost as if I have the front hook looped over the line and it does that spiral thing coming back in.

I know a few of you have used them so far.  Is this one just weird or are they all like that?

That doesn't sound good. I have a Rapala Waking Minnow and Biovex Wake Bait and I like the Arashi best. I tried it with my Revo Rocket with 9:0:1 and it wouldn't run right even when going slow.

Switched to a Revo SX in 6:4:1 (I think) and reeled slowly and it ran perfectly. Caught 2 fish and missed 2 others on the 2nd outing.

What ratio is the reel you're using?

I've had zero issues with my Arashi wake bait. It has an extremely wide and aggressive wobble, but I think that's a lot of the attraction to it.

I had bad luck with arashi also.  I couldnt get it to run good at any speed.  Very disappointed.  They are pretty but that don't cut it.  I was in a tourny and didn'y have time to play with them as much as I wanted.  I may try different line and rods to see if that makes a difference.  I like the idea this time of year.

i was using a 7 gear ratio but tried fast and slow retrieves.  May give them one more chance but I am not impressed.  The Lucky Craft Wake is amazing right out of the package.  Will probably be my go to Wake

I have yet to get these but I was out with a friend and his ran horribly until he used it with a different set up, the difference.....Line, plain and simple. He was using straight fluorocarbon and why it made such a difference I don't know but mono and braid seemed fine with no issues but it didn't work very well on the fluorocarbon but it was straight, not just a leader.

I've found that rod angle has a huge effect on how the arashi runs. At the beginning of a cast, I hold the rod tip about waist high and slowly drop the tip during the retrieve to get it to wobble the entire time. I'm using 40# Smackdown with mine.

Love how durable the Arashi is. I've banged it off of rocks and wood and expected broken bills each time, but they come back intact.

don't have an arashi wake, but the other arashi's i have the only complaint from me is the hooks are poor quality....  had 2 of them bend out on a stump from barely pulling on it while the hook was lodged in the wood...  just saying to check the hooks on it in case it does entice the right fish!

FWIW I've been fishing mine on a 7' MH/F rod with a 6.2:1 ratio reel and 14lb copolymer line.

They do have quite a wide wobble but I haven't had any issues with mine. I will say that they can run a little awkward when worked too fast. Other than that I've been enjoying them.
