slimshad Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 man I get confidence and a feel for a bait, then they stop making it. It has happened on several occasions. It takes awhile to find those baits that you feel is a go to bait. Sure there are many close to it or a "new" style of the same version. I feel like every year I am on forums and ebay trying to find my confidence baits to buy. I guess if you find something you feel comfortable with, you better buy a bunch and put them up for a rainy day. Quote

Super User smalljaw67 Posted September 2, 2014 Super User Posted September 2, 2014 If that ever happens do not be afraid to contact the company and see if you can purchase old stock. I had that happen with the Manns Waker Elite, it is a big body wake bait and it awesome because you can reel it pretty fast and it still makes a wake. Anyway, I only had 2 left and so I was looking around and I was able to find some but not in the colors I wanted so I contacted Manns and they were able to get a bunch in the colors I wanted. Quote
slimshad Posted September 2, 2014 Author Posted September 2, 2014 I went straight to Berkley and they said they have no stock and do not plan on making more. One thing good is I contacted YUM and a bait I thought was gone is just not at bass pro anymore. YUM said i could purchase from them and that they do not plan on stopping production in the near future. Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted September 2, 2014 Super User Posted September 2, 2014 What Berkley bait have you been looking for? oe Quote
slimshad Posted September 2, 2014 Author Posted September 2, 2014 Ten inch worm in Pumpkinseed color. You can get them in 7" but 10" are gone. Quote
zachvu Posted September 2, 2014 Posted September 2, 2014 The power worms? They had a bunch of them on clearance at Cabela's in Boise when I was in there two weeks ago. Quote
Super User WRB Posted September 3, 2014 Super User Posted September 3, 2014 Try contacting the lure company directly, they often have stock or know where some is. Berkely redesigned the ribbon tail power worm, longer body with shorter ribbon tail....bad move! Check Culprit 10" ribbon tails. Tom Quote
slimshad Posted September 3, 2014 Author Posted September 3, 2014 I have emailed Berkley and they are not producing my worm combo anymore. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 3, 2014 Global Moderator Posted September 3, 2014 Do you really think a bass can tell the difference between pumpkin and green pumpkin? (Not trying to be insulting, just wondering if you've ever tried and noticed a significant difference). I don't carry any pumpkin colored worms but I carry a ton of variations of green pumpkin. I'm sure there's plenty of other companies that produce 10" ribbontail worms in pumpkin colors though. 1 Quote

I do feel like a bait that is slightly different matters in my very highly pressured lakes. During a tournament we have to fish when they are not necissarily eating or feeding. Something has to make them react or want it. I can buy all the different baits I want, they sell 100's of worms in pumpkin colors. I am talking about the ones that I know puts money in my pocket and bass in my livewell. There must be something about them if I am winning or placing in tournaments. Everyone else is throwing green pumpkin....... and I have thier money in my pocket...... CONFIDENCE is the best bait in the boat! Quote

I think the OP might just have to look at some other brands and maybe can add some of the powerbait scent to the new worms! Best of luck though and I hope you find a good replacement. I've been known to buy A LOT of something I truly like... Plastics are truly the worst IMO though because you can go through them so fast! Quote
Super User WRB Posted September 3, 2014 Super User Posted September 3, 2014 When a soft plastic worm is no longer available your options are making them or have a custom hand pour made. Don Iovino and Josh Uptom (Uptom's Custom's) can make them. Tom 2 Quote
