Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 1, 2014 Global Moderator Posted September 1, 2014 Anybody been able to get their hands on one yet and fish it? I've got a trip to a known big bass lake coming up a the end of the month and I'm trying to track one down to try out there. Just curious if anyone has been able to fish one. Quote

Super User A-Jay Posted September 1, 2014 Super User Posted September 1, 2014 Thanks A-Jay, that was the only place I found them in stock as well. Should have mine by the end of the week:) You're most welcome - Please let me know what you think about them ~ especially if the bass eat them. If so, they'd be a nice addition to the Lake Baccarac bass arsenal . . . A-Jay Quote
black94gt50 Posted September 3, 2014 Posted September 3, 2014 They should be a killer crankbait that's for sure. If any of you guys know anywhere that has them in stock, and wanna give up the location feel free to do so lol. Quote

Super User buzzed bait Posted September 3, 2014 Super User Posted September 3, 2014 KVD said he'll have plenty of time to fish them between now and March 2 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted September 9, 2014 Author Global Moderator Posted September 9, 2014 Well, they're big I had planned on fishing it on my DD crankbait rod but after holding it I've decided to go with a light flipping stick instead. Going to be tossing it with a 7' 6" MH/MF with a 200BSF Curado and 20lb P Line Evolution. Did I mention it's big? That's a 1.5 sized bait it's next to and 1/0 Owner ST 36s the bait is sporting. 3 Quote
Super User F14A-B Posted September 9, 2014 Super User Posted September 9, 2014 Wow, that's a big squarebill, does it weigh 2 ozs like the 10xd? Quote

JGBassinAL Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 No Green Gizzard Shad?? That's the best color! Especially in the 10XD! 1 Quote
TorqueConverter Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Hows the action on it? When you scale up a bait like that you can expect a loss of action, unless you tweak parts of the bait design to compensate. I wonder what they're tweaked on it. That one big crank and I thought the old Big Os were huge! Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 No Green Gizzard Shad?? That's the best color! Especially in the 10XD! Yep, I'm disappointed in the colors avaliable. But the lucky craft skt mag comes in some great colors and is an awesome oversized squarevill! 1 Quote

That one big crank and I thought the old Big Os were huge! Have not yet had a chance to fish it. I'm assuming it's going to be more of a slow rolling action than a fast wiggle of the 1.5 sized baits. Bigger baitfish also swim with a bit more wobble than their smaller brethren though so that might not be a bad thing. Yep, I'm disappointed in the colors avaliable. But the lucky craft skt mag comes in some great colors and is an awesome oversized squarevill! I'm a little disappointed in the colors as well but at the same time I'm not going to be carry several colors of a squarebill this size anyways so as long as they have the basics I'll be alright. I was disappointed in finding they didn't make it in Green Gizzard shad, by far my favorite SK crankbait color. Quote

At least they have natural bream though. The lucky craft skt mag comes I'm ghost minnow. I've already caught some good fish on it. I'll have an oversized squarebill tied on at all times. I'm throwing mine on a dobyns 806cb. Quote
papajoe222 Posted September 9, 2014 Posted September 9, 2014 Are you sure that isn't a Muskie bait? That's the rod I'd be using. Dang you guys throw some big baits. Gets me to thinking about those 8in. swim baits I only break out for Muskie. Seriously, if you or a buddy have a rod used for Jakes and Depth Raiders, I'd pair it with the reel you mentioned. Depending on the composite it may not be as sensitive, but I've caught numerous big bass fishing those baits for Muskie and sensitivity wasn't an issue. . Quote

I have muskie rods but it really isn't big enough to warrant using one. I do have a St. Croix Classic Cat composite glass rod that I seriously considered fishing it on, but it's a very heavy rod to use very long. I fished the 8.0 for a little while today. I was on a local lake with very few big fish so wasn't expecting any bites and they didn't let me down. Bait cast very easy and cranks easier than I was thinking it might. Bounces through rocks and cover just like it's smaller relatives and it does have a little slower roll than the smaller baits, which is to be expected. It looks good in the water and it really wasn't much larger than the shad I was finding schooled up either. Excited to give it a true test on a big bass lake later this month. 2 Quote
