cjam93 Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Hey guys so I currently am using Tatulas and I love them. However I wouldnt mind giving some other brands a shot as well. This has led me to wondering in terms of sensitivity, what IM rating would a Tatula have? Thanks! Quote
Smallmouth Hunter Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 IM doesn't really matter. If you want to try a different brand, look at the new fenwick elite tech bass, or the ***, or the SC Avid. Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted August 31, 2014 Super User Posted August 31, 2014 IM ratings are like many other things in the fishing industry, non-standard. You may be able to gain some type of useful information within a brand of rod if they use an IM rating to rate all their rods. There is no current standard to rate a rods ability to transmit vibration, and any attempt to do so is entirely subjective and an opinion of the person performing the review or rating. Even if all rods were rated in terms of an IM rating, it would only describe the graphite used in the construction of the blank. There are many other factors that end up determining the overall "Sensitivity" of a rod. 2 Quote

cjam93 Posted August 31, 2014 Author Posted August 31, 2014 Ok thanks guys that makes sense, I had not really thought about it in that way. Two of the rods I am interested in is the *** as well as the Denali Rosewood. How would you say these rods compare to a tatula? Quote
Super User aavery2 Posted August 31, 2014 Super User Posted August 31, 2014 The *** and Tatula rods scored exactly the same in a review done by another popular site. Quote
JGBassinAL Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 The *** and Tatula rods scored exactly the same in a review done by another popular site. and they are both much better than the Rosewood Quote
Smallmouth Hunter Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Denali uses cheap components but I haven't used one so I can't comment on the blanks. They hired hoardes of pro staffers so I'm going to get my head cut off for saying that, LOL. If it were my money, I'd get a fenwick elite tech bass. Fenwick's states they are similar to the ETS but higher modulus iirc. If that's true, it will be a heck of a rod. Quote
Mr Swim Jig Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 I have fished both the *** *** Black and Daiwa Tatula rods and in my opinion the Tatula rod is a much better rod. Better quality, better components and better sensitivity. Quote
dam0007 Posted September 1, 2014 Posted September 1, 2014 Haven't fished the Tatula rods. Love the reels tho. Anyhow I love my 13s. I have some top shelf stuff as well but come tourney time all my 13s are on the deck. They are workhorse rods in my book. The only other rods I've purchased in a while that have given me the WOW factor was sub 100 daiwa T rods and sub 200 powell endurance. -edit* add in irod Genesis 2 'Fred's magic stick' it's magic for sure, one of the few rods I've ever touched that literally can serve dozens of purposes and serve them well. The taper for this strength of a rod is something else. Quote
