Fish_Whisperer Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Anyone else excited to get their hand on this? http://strikeking.com/products/new-icast-products-2015/new-2015-bass-baits.html > Quick description: A magnum-sized squarebill that dives to 7 feet with great wandering action. It's based on the original 2.5, just oversized. It weighs 1.5 oz and is 5” long. It deflects really well off of cover. Big baits catch big bass! Big baits equal big bites. We’ve all heard that before, so tie on the all-new KVD 8.0 from Strike King and prepare to catch a giant!"The nature of today’s tournament atmosphere has changed," says four-time Bassmaster Classic champion Kevin VanDam. "Gone are the days of catching a limit to survive. Survival and success in today’s tournaments require catching 5 big bass every single day."That need led us to design the all-new KVD 8.0. The 8.0 is a large-profile bait designed to mimic the bigger-sized forage of giant bass. But don’t think for a minute that a 3-pounder won’t eat it too."The all-new KVD 8.0 weighs in at 1 ½-oz and runs 3-7 feet deep. Much like its squarebill brethren – the KVD 1.5 and 2.5 – the 8.0 has the erratic “hunting” action that made this line famous among anglers. It also is designed with no rattles for the silent approach that maximizes its ability to take advantage of the reactionary nature of a bass. The introductory lineup will include 10 fish-catching colors and can be found at better sporting goods retailers everywhere. 2 Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted August 18, 2014 Super User Posted August 18, 2014 The 2.5 is as big as I'll go really... the 1.5 already catches hawgs, the 8.0 is twice the length and weight of the 2.5 and is pretty massive, I guess if your hunting hawgs it'll get the job done haha Quote
Fish_Whisperer Posted August 18, 2014 Author Posted August 18, 2014 The 2.5 is as big as I'll go really... the 1.5 already catches hawgs, the 8.0 is twice the length and weight of the 2.5 and is pretty massive, I guess if your hunting hawgs it'll get the job done haha It will have a place in my collection, and will be used. I'm also positive it will catch fish for me; the blueback herring around here get pretty large about the time of bass spawn. Quote
Super User SPEEDBEAD. Posted August 18, 2014 Super User Posted August 18, 2014 I'm not really a crankbait guy for bass but toothy fish should eat that thing up. Quote
Super User WIGuide Posted August 18, 2014 Super User Posted August 18, 2014 I'll probably end up with one or two of them. Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted August 18, 2014 Super User Posted August 18, 2014 I'll probably end up with one or two of them. Same here, even though I wont throw them a whole lot, it would diffently be fun catching fish on them! Quote
PondHopper96 Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 Sb's are pretty much the only cranks I throw and im definitely looking to snag a few of these! Quote
slimshad Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 I will throw one fo sho! Need a black and yellow one and a red one. Quote
DTack Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 I look forward to them, they will cost me less when I crack them in half against a dock or some cement vs. a LC Skeet Reese mag haha Quote
Primus Posted August 18, 2014 Posted August 18, 2014 I will definitely pick one up. In addition to it's intended application I have a feeling it will be a good night fishing bait . Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted August 19, 2014 Global Moderator Posted August 19, 2014 The big bass in most of our lakes target big gizzard shad. I've considered getting the Lucky Craft magnum square bill but haven't talked myself into pulling the trigger on one. I'll be getting a few of these to imitate those big gizzard shad and hopefully be sticking some big ones on them Probably going to have to fish them on my deep cranking rod though. Quote

Super User Jrob78 Posted August 19, 2014 Super User Posted August 19, 2014 I think its great lol, it kinda reminds me of a cheaper verison of the blackdog shell cracker Hmmm....I'm not seeing the resemblance. 1 Quote

Fish_Whisperer Posted August 20, 2014 Author Posted August 20, 2014 I suspect it will pull like a 6xd. Will be pleasantly surprised though, if it pulls lighter. Quote
