stk Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Looks kinda cool, the idea is pretty clear. You have the best of both worlds. Might be too complicated and lots of moving parts. Quote
Super User Hi Salenity Posted August 16, 2014 Super User Posted August 16, 2014 No thanks, that's a $200 fix for a $.02 problem. Quote

Super User iabass8 Posted August 16, 2014 Super User Posted August 16, 2014 So if I watched this video correctly, (and I think I did), he makes a cast in the distance of X creating line twist. He then cast the same exact distance (for the sake of argument and his description, we will assume he did this), flipped the spool and removed the line twist from the portion of the line cast out after the initial cast. The issue I believe I'm seeing with that is what if your next cast is longer/shorter than the previous (Which is almost certainly will be)? The "excess" line on the longer cast will then have line twist due to the spool flipping and/or the shorter cast portion of line that wasn't cast out originally will retain its line twist and inherently stay and continue to be twisted because it wasn't cast out exactly the same or duplicated on the initial and second cast to remove the line twist. Wouldn't this cycle repeat itself over and over creating twist upon twist? 1 Quote
Smallmouth Hunter Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Pretty cool, but obviously not refined or smooth. Quote
Nibby Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Confused as to what this is "attempting" to solve? But hey if it ain't broke don't fix it Quote

Rudy1922 Posted August 16, 2014 Author Posted August 16, 2014 Is this for people that refuse to learn how to use a baitcaster? It might be easier because there wouldn't be any backlashes? 1 Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted August 16, 2014 Super User Posted August 16, 2014 There would still be backlashes I would assume, he said something about feathering the spool. Quote
Smallmouth Hunter Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 There would still be backlashes I would assume, he said something about feathering the spool.thats only one of the ways to cast. It can also be cast with a fixed spool like spinning reel. Quote
Slade House Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 HAHAHAHAHHA...hahahahah hahahaahah Ok so this thing is the funniest biggest piece of expensive crap i've ever handled. Here's the story. So at iCast 2014, on the tuesday night before the show opens between 5pm to 7pm thats when all of the retailers and wholesalers get the first look at some of the new products from some of the manufactures (not all) with open bar in this "new product preview" and vote on best in show. , So a bunch of us are all standing around drinking heineken laughing at the craptasticness of this thing ( i was the only one who had watched this youtube video prior to iCast. so i was the only one who knew anything about it) 1. Its MSRP was $1350!!!!! So its a $1350 solution to a 2 cent problem. (we spent much time cracking jokes about what we could buy with that $1350 instead). 2. NOBODY EVER SAW THIS THING WORK!! IT BROKE 5 MINUTES INTO ICAST. you see all those exposed gears and springs!!?? well in less than 10 minutes at 510pm this thing had already ceased to wind , work or function at all. you couldn't flip the spool, crank the reel or open the bail/spool. Most of it was due to having 2 big crappy quality gears completely exposed . after it broke , it just became more hilarious and mysterious because it didn't work and people had no idea how it would work if it did. I understand that Kendra Gear is not Daiwa , but this thing was rushed, could have been built better by crab people Quote
Super User SirSnookalot Posted August 16, 2014 Super User Posted August 16, 2014 Interesting work in progress but for a person like me who can't count past one I'd forget to switch the spool side. The point about not be able to duplicate casting distance is a good one. I hope the finished product puts a case around it, at present looks like it was made with an erector set. I'd hold off and not buy into the IPO if they go public. Quote
Smallmouth Hunter Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 $1350!!!!!??? I don't understand Quote
