Straight Tail Trick Worms On Shakey Heads

How effective is putting a zoom trick worm on a mega strike shake2 head??? The hookup ratio seems bad as the shakey head's hook barely reaches far . It hooks only in the top of the worm

My number 1 bait for a shakey head is the trick worm.  When they open their gills, they suck the whole thing in, don't worry about the length of hook!

Are you using the screw lock or the other thingy muh Bob that's built on the hook? I prefer the screw lock....

I make my own shaky heads and use a few different style worms and I can tell you that using too big of a hook will hurt the action on the worm. Bass very seldom grab the tail, most of the time they inhale the whole bait, a 3/0 hook in a shaky head is perfect for 5" and 6" straight tail worms.

Trick worms is what I use 90% of the time on a shake head.

The others are roboworms and zman finesse, which are the same, but slightly different.

If I know the fish are aggressive or It's a big fish place I tend to use a larger bait like the trick worm. If a more finesse approach Is needed I tend to throw a Zoom finesse worm, a 4" dead ringer, or a R.I. smallie beaver.

99% of the time I dedícate to shakeyheading the worm you'll see is a Trickworm. ( there used to be a time when that worm was a Jelly Worm ).

To me there is none better than the trick worm for the shaky head.

I tend to throw It In most, note I say most, conditions that I would throw a tx-rig. The retrieves I use vary according to the places I fish. For example, In brush I tend to shake It as I do under a dock. On a laydown I walk It right down the entire length of the tree until the end and then just shake It. There are many possibilities with regards to retrieves, don't pigeon-hole yourself with what some think Is the "only" presentation for a shakeyhead. 

 

I tend to use a 3/16 Zenith shakeyhead from Siebert Outdoors simply because I feel It can be used in a variety of situations but will go lighter or heavier depending on the need.

In my opinion the best bait on a shaky head is a Senko style bait on the Shaky head. I get them poured with no salt.
