macmichael Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 I've been fishing a lot and entertaining grandkids. Doing a little bar b qing, frying fish, pontooning, and enjoying all the relatives that come to visit this time of year. (-: So far it's been a great summer. Go Cardinals. Quote
papajoe222 Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Thought maybe you dropped off the face of the earth as we haven't heard from you in quite a while. Plenty of fishing, including with the grandson. In northwest Wisconsin chasing musky and our last club tourney. Is this week-end. Don't be a stranger Quote
macmichael Posted July 30, 2014 Author Posted July 30, 2014 Hey Joe. How are you? I have been very bust this summer. Usually by 8pm I'm so danged tired all I can do is watch a little tv. I have been catching a lot of 2 and 3 pound bass. My biggest so far this summer is a 4 pounder. I weigh and measure all my bass over 12 inches and 1 pound. Mac Quote
Super User Sam Posted July 30, 2014 Super User Posted July 30, 2014 Fun fishing the Pamunkey River. Tournament fishing this summer. Getting ready for my American Legion Crab Feat today, July 30th. Fishing local ponds and lakes. Rearranging the bass boat to have more space. Worrying about my Tracker trailer that is rusting out. Got a new 82 pound thrust Motor Guide trolling motor as I bent the shaft of my original one on the Pamunkey when I hit a log. Talk about having the Tracker take off like a rocket with this powerful trolling motor. Considering getting the trolling motor recess kit and putting the pedestal out of the way and have an easier operation with the pedestal off the deck. Missing the Potomac River tournament as my wife is having another neck surgery and worrying about that. Going to fish the Historic James River for fun and relaxation before wife's surgery. Helping wife can 27 jars of Hanover tomatoes. Watching grandkids on weekends and taking them to feed the geese at a local lake. Caught two lady bass over 8 pounds at my double secret pond on the same day. First on a shaky head and then on a crankbait. Lots of fun catching them. Got new trailer tires on boat trailer. Ones that were on there were ready to blow. Close call. Got new tires on my SUV to tow the boat. Went to Corolla, NC and slept through Hurricane Andrew. Took grandson fishing for first time and he caught two turtles and his first large mouth bass. We were using Nightcrawlers so he would catch something and after the two turtles I switched to a Zoom green pumpkin trick worm on a 1/16 jig head and he caught his first bass. He had no idea what to do and he was afraid of the fish at first. But he manned up and I got a fantastic photo of him holding the fish. Sent the photo to BAM. Sued Taubman to stop them from selling the 27 acres behind my house to Wood Partners for a 282 apartment development. Going to continue the pressure by heading back to court to stop Taubman from selling property to a "straw company" who can then sell it to the apartment developers. Created a song "Sue the scoundrels" and sing it when I go outside. Great tune if I say so myself. Told the Lake Cherokee people about the 60,000 square foot dermatology clinic and offices being built about quarter mile down the road on the Stony Point Fashion Park property and they are going bonkers about the filling of the drainage pond and the new system to handle the water flow into Lake Cherokee. The Fashion Park sent so much silt into the Lake Cherokee that the landowners had to pay $70,000 four years ago to have the southern end of the lake dredged and they are afraid it will be worse with the new office building. Anything to help the Taubman people and VCU have an easy path to the construction. Had my annual skin cancer check up. Time for a special post on skin cancer checkups for us bass guys. Will post soon. That's about it. Thanks for asking! All OK with skin cancer check up. 1 Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted July 31, 2014 Global Moderator Posted July 31, 2014 After almost 6 yrs of planning, hoping and dreaming we finally took delivery of our new motor coach on July 1st!! Since retiring in March we've been planning out trips for the remainder of this year and next. Right now we're sitting in a camp ground just outside of Bourbonnais Ill as we decieded that there was no better way to spend our first roadtrip than to attend the 1st week of the Chicago Bears training camp. Never owning so much as a tent, this rookie was more than a lttle nervous trying to understand the systems but so far so good. Next year we're planning to run the length of Route 66, we'll see. Good to see youre still kicking Mac!!! Mike 1 Quote
