Hey guys, I'm heading to HH in a week and will be there for 10 days. Looking to get a line wet. Anyone have any tips on some freshwater fishing? Just fishing from the bank is fine, ( as long as it doesn't turn me into gator bait)

I wouldn't mind possibly doing a fresh water guide if any are out there.

Thanks guys

I don't know about fresh, but "Chris at Tech" has a guy he uses every year for tarpon!

Thanks for the info. I'm a bass fisherman so I'd love to get on some if I could. If I have to hit the saltwater side I'd like to stay inshore and hit some reds. Looks really similar to bass fishing. Any thoughts?

Yeah, I've been there a few times since my folks are retired there :)

Where are you staying? Regardless, you can find bass in just about any of the ponds in the plantations. Yes, keep an eye out for gators especially when landing or releasing fish.

But with that said, my recommendation would be to fish the salt. Your bass gear will do just find for redfish and trout, and many of the ponds down there are tide-fed and brackish. A 1 lb redfish will kick your butt much more than a 5lb bass. PM me if you'd like more info on the fishing, or if you like a salt guide recommendation. My avatar fish was caught in HHI, and the 'poon are just starting to show. :)
