Nuclearcowboy Posted June 25, 2014 Posted June 25, 2014 Hello all!! I moved to Richmond VA a few years ago and recently I decided to take up bass fishing. I apologize if my question is annoying and repetitive of the past. That being said, apparently I really suck at this sport!! I have been going out almost daily for 3 weeks with one catch that was obviously pure dumb luck! I am strictly shore fishing as I have no access to a boat. I have fished several locations with spinner baits stick baits and lures galore! I am frustrated and frankly, thinking of quitting. Are there a few tips that anyone can offer so I can catch a fish(seriously a darn minnow would make my day) I would be extremely grateful!! I feel I would love fishing if there were even the slight chance of catching something. Thanks in advance!! Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted June 25, 2014 Super User Posted June 25, 2014 Hello and Welcome to BR ~ My advice is to read several of the articles in this link regarding the Senko. Then apply what you learn. By making a serious commitment to this bait / technique, you can't help but catch some bass. Good Luck A-Jay http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/12401-senko-faq- look-here-first/ Quote

Super User Darren. Posted June 25, 2014 Super User Posted June 25, 2014 Hey Nuke. Try this. Take your senko and rig it perpendicular to your hook. It's a "wacky rig". Fish it around laydowns like fallen trees, around/under docks, etc. Let the worm do the work, you need to be patient. But it is one of the most effective methods I use/have ever used to catch bass. And I can't say it enough, be patient! Quote
Super User Sam Posted June 26, 2014 Super User Posted June 26, 2014 Cowboy, everyone of us have been in your shoes so don't fret. Here are some suggestions: 1. Get the free 2014 Fishing in Virginia publication and check out the areas around Richmond that you can fish from shore. 2. Consider joining a bass fishing club and learn from the locals as to where to go; how to fish; what baits to use; and a lot more; plus make some new friends that are very good bass fishermen. 3. Read, read and read the articles at the top of the Forum page. 4. Subscribe to Bassmasters Magazine; Bass Anglers Magazine; Bass Times; and any other publications you would like to read to learn what the pros do and how they do it. If you want to join a bass fishing club PM me and I can give you some details and the financial investment you will have to make. Quote
