Jeep guy Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Ok so I have been fishing for a year now. I really need some help, I have been reading the forum and a lot of articles here on bass resource. My problem is I can seem to catch anything ever. I go out 3 or 4 times a week, I use everything from senkos to jerk bait to tubes to cranks, spinners, buzz baits. And still can seem to hook up. Is there anyone out there that might be able to help??? Thank you in advance. Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted June 11, 2014 Super User Posted June 11, 2014 What waters do you fish? Maybe the place you fish at doesn't hold bass... Have you seen other people fishing there catching bass? If you have been fishing a year and go 3 or 4 times a week you've had to of caught something by now! Welcome to the site! Quote
Mccallister25 Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Yea, Imma have to agree with the other guys. There may not be any bass in there. Now if youve fished there, and have caught a few, then maybe just slow down your presentation a bit, or downsize some of your baits. Head to the introduction section, and tell us more about yourself, so we can know how to help you. Location is very important.. Welcome to Bass Resource btw! Quote
DropTheBass Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Hey man, and welcome to the site. I've had the same exact issue (using almost every bait and still coming up empty) and came to the conclusion that there is no fish at the lake I was fishing at. Once I moved over to a different lake, I caught my first bass. Try drop shotting with a Roboworm. It worked pretty well for me last time I went fishing. Quote

Hyrule Bass Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 Jeep Guy, you may want to fill out your profile information so people know where you are located. Then people more local to you can tell you what is working for them in that area at a given time. They can probably also tell you if youre fishing dead water or not. One thing in bass fishing is true for sure, if there are no bass in the water youre fishing then youre not going to catch bass. Just hang in there and keep trying. Fishing requires patience in many instances. also remember, it is called fishing and not catching. seems youve been pretty patient, trying for over a year and not catching anything. you came to the right place for help and to gain knowledge, but you have to put it to use. also, dont let all the new information youve gained here overwhelm or confuse you, because sometimes it can and you start overthinking things. have you literally not caught a single fish? or just a few far and in between? 2 Quote
Jeep guy Posted June 12, 2014 Author Posted June 12, 2014 Hey thanks for all the help. I live I. Northern virginia I fish out of fountainhead park. I know there are fish there, the park host a fishing tournament every other weekend. I'll get my profiled filled out this afternoon. Quote
NathanW Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 Try to dropshot a 4.5" curl tail roboworm (arrons magic in dirty water or Oxblood in clear water) or split shot rig the same roboworm with a size 1 G-lock hook. This setup will tell you if there are fish around because the little bass will slam these baits without hesitation. If there are smallmouth around you may even get a big bite on this setup. Quote
