Hi yall,

Im pretty new to bass fishing and so far im enjoying it alot.  All I've done is bank fishing on a small pond and have alot of success with a jitterbug even though there were tiny fish.  My buddy recently got his boat in working condition and we've been on the lake alot with no success.  I've tried everything I know (which isnt much).  I watch alot of bassresource videos on youtube for tips and tricks but when i go to bait shops to look for new stuff to try I am lost because its still all confusing to me.  Any Ideas would be appreciated. Thank you!

Squarebill crankbaits! You could give a potatoe a squarebill and it'll catch fish. Just remember you have to be throwing it where the fish are to catch em!

I'd reccomend the KVD 1.5, bomber square A, or H20 express CRS. They aren't to expensive but catch the heck out of fish. Shad like colors and chartreuse are my favorite colors...

Hi there and welcome!

First, what part of the country are you from? If you can name specific lakes, you might even get some additional help from those who fish the same areas, or for us who can look at a map and discuss it with you.

As far as information goes, reading and watching videos will definitely help you understand things better. There's no better teacher than experience, so learning from successful anglers like Glenn will certainly help.

Stick to some basics since you're new to lake fishing. Crankbaits, jigs and soft plastics are my go-to baits.

When you fish the Ark. river, black/blue jigs. I sell a lot of them out there.

Clearer waters, go to more natural colors such as green pumkins & browns.

Fishing tackle can be overwhelming, there is one key concept when your starting out, KEEP IT SIMPLE, if your new to fishing you probably don't know much about bass behavior and how they tick, don't go of to the store and buy every carnkbait and every other lure because you see work on you tube because you tube, you won't have success. Not because the bait doesn't work it's because you most likely don't know when or where to fish it propriety and fishing situations are hard to analyze especially to a rookie. Like I said keep it simple. Next time you at the locks tackle store just get some zoom trick worms,3/16 oz bullet weight and a pack of 4/0 hooks. Texas rig your worm and pound the bank. Throw it to docks, lay downs, grass beds, rock banks, you name it and fish it there. The thing about the worm is there isn't a wrong way to fish it and it's very easy. Don't get caught up in all the gear, that will all come once you understand fishing more and more and the season patterns start to make sense. When your fishing also don't try a figure out ten different baits at once. Figure out the worm then work your way up to a spinner bait or sqaurebill next and keep building on your skills. Best of luck to you. Bass ifs hint is the best thing that's ever happened to me and I love it more than life it's self.
