bassboy33 Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 I am talking about a lund style boat. I personally fish out of a 2013 1750 Crestliner Superhawk, and although it lacks in rod storage, I have a nice dry ride and I do great. Quote
sparky241 Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 Nope, I have a trihaul.. If I can ever get it registered anyway Quote
Super User Lund Explorer Posted June 9, 2014 Super User Posted June 9, 2014 Yup, I sure do. My Lund is a 1675 pushed around with a 60hp Mercury 4-stroke. The rod storage is actually quite decent for the size, tackle storage is so-so, the livewell is huge, and battery storage or location is less than what I would desire. The sidewalls are also mostly vertical which leads to a wetter ride in waves, but can troll down to 1.2mph when I go after walleye with the help of two drift socks. I've owned tin and glass from 12' to 19' with main engines up to 200hp. The only thing I've found over all these years is that every boat has its own strengths and weaknesses. The best anyone can hope for is that the former outweighs the latter. Did I mention how little fuel this boat uses compared to the last fiberglass rocket I had the pleasure of visiting gas stations with? Quote
MichBassMan Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 1997 Crestliner 1750 fish hawk. Best of both worlds, great lakes big water and flooded reservoir skinny water, trolling for salmon to pitching and flipping in stumps for bucket mouths. Quote
Super User slonezp Posted June 9, 2014 Super User Posted June 9, 2014 I've been fishing out of a deep v for many years. A Lund since last year Quote
bassboy33 Posted June 9, 2014 Author Posted June 9, 2014 Thanks guys! For some reason I thought I was the only one! Quote
NathanW Posted June 9, 2014 Posted June 9, 2014 This thread should probably be posted in the "other species" forum.... Quote
Nick B Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I have Tracker Deep V 16, I find it very versatile and makes for great ride on rough water. Quote
Lewi Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I too have a Tracker deep v 16 SC with a 75 4S and love the ride, storage, and fishabilty of the boat. Catches plenty of bass too! Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted June 10, 2014 Super User Posted June 10, 2014 I fish out of a Starcraft STX 2050 deep V aluminum boat 2 Quote
Team_Dougherty Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I have a 2000 Crestliner Angler 16 I bought new. Great boat on the lakes in Canada, the local rivers and the back bays in NJ for flounder. Quote
Bob C Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I have a Tracker Targa. Way more rod and tackle storage than I need. Bass don't care what boat you have. Quote
Bob C Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I've had all kinds of boats over the last 30 plus years. Flat bottom, bass boats, deep V. I liked them all. I really believe a guy should have at least 3 boats for different days and places. Try and get that approved by the wife. Quote
olegs Posted June 10, 2014 Posted June 10, 2014 I have a Lund Rebel XL 1625 deep V aluminum boat with a 60hp Mercury 4-stroke. Great ride on rough water. Quote
Super User tcbass Posted June 10, 2014 Super User Posted June 10, 2014 I have a 2000 Crestliner Fish Hawk 17'. I love it. But I hope my next boat is a new bass boat. I will keep my old boat though. Quote
Paxton44 Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 I have a Lund Impact 1875. I really enjoy fishing from it and love being able to take my wife, our friends, and their 3-year-old daughter out fishing. She just caught her first bass last weekend. I wouldn't be able to put all of them safely or comfortably on a bass boat. The trade off is it probably goes half as fast. I don't fish tournaments so I don't miss that. Quote
MacP Posted June 11, 2014 Posted June 11, 2014 The last boat I sold was a Grumman Cayuga. http://imgur.com/a/CZcTE I dug it. I'd have kept it if it were a flat bottom though. I like fishing tailwaters - my newest boat is too big for that mess :X Quote
Super User S Hovanec Posted June 11, 2014 Super User Posted June 11, 2014 Lund Mr Pike 17' with a Honda 135 for me. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted June 12, 2014 Super User Posted June 12, 2014 I fished a deep v tiller for years. What a great boat. 17' of wide open fishing space, and handled big water like a champ. Quote
Super User tcbass Posted June 12, 2014 Super User Posted June 12, 2014 I fished a deep v tiller for years. What a great boat. 17' of wide open fishing space, and handled big water like a champ. But you like your bass boat better? Quote
Super User J Francho Posted June 12, 2014 Super User Posted June 12, 2014 No, they're just different tools. Keep in mind, I have two bass boats, one an 18' aluminum, the other a 22' glass performance boat. Also consider my location. I've got lakes that range from shallow puddles up to two Great Lakes, and everything in between within an hour drive. No single boat does all that best. Quote
Delaware Valley Tackle Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 JF, You still fish from the kayak too? Quote
B@ssCrzy Posted June 12, 2014 Posted June 12, 2014 The last boat I sold was a Grumman Cayuga. http://imgur.com/a/CZcTE I dug it. I'd have kept it if it were a flat bottom though. I like fishing tailwaters - my newest boat is too big for that mess :X I fish out of a 1994 Grumman 17'. Looks exactly like your old boat (same colors and everything) just bigger and has a console and 70hp Johnson. Love my boat. I feel the only downside to a deep v is the wind likes to use it like a kite. Other than that I have no complaints. Look forward to many great days on the lake and many memories made. Quote
Super User J Francho Posted June 12, 2014 Super User Posted June 12, 2014 JF, You still fish from the kayak too? When I can. Anything to get off the shore. Quote
San Dimas Posted June 24, 2014 Posted June 24, 2014 1997 Monark (Starcraft) PRO 1700 with 60 horse Merc 4 stroke. Works great! Quote
