Hello all, my name is Joey, I work in the world of political talk radio and the show I produce for can be heard daily from 5-9AM Pacific time here: http://www.kogo.com/main.html

I grew up originally fishing in Ohio, spent a short time in Florida and ended up in San Diego. I've been using this forum for many years as great source for fishing style and gear tips and am happy to join.

Living by the ocean I do ton of saltwater fishing to go along with black bass and have even had the opportunity to catch both freshwater and saltwater bass in the same day. I fish the little known San Diego River more than any other body of water as it's a hidden gem for big bass. Only downside is that in a big city like this many meth heads and homeless make the riverbed their home so I have to keep my head on a swivel while reeling in a 5 pounder. But again I'm happy to join and look forward to participating in many conversations like on which is a better longterm reel to own, a new Curado I or a Lew's Tournament Pro....My nod goes to the Curado.

Oh the San Diego River....So many little holes with so many BIG fish!  I spent 7 years in San Diego and moved back east Dec 2013.  I love it there, it is truly America's Finest City.  Welcome to BR, I am new here as well.  Do you get out and do any Calico fishing?

On the reels, I just picked up a Lew's speed spool and I love it so far.  Lew's makes good reels for a very reasonable price.

I fish mostly from shore in the ocean, but I've caught my fair share of calico and spotted bay bass. My biggest spotted bay bass was 4 pounds from the shore on fiesta island. I used to fish a ton at cat cliffs by Quivira Way but it gets pretty busy on weekends. You would know if you've been there cause about 200 feral cats makes the huge rocks there as their home.
