ive been researching rods for mid-deep cranks and alot of guys say a 7'6 rod is the way to go but im considering a 7ft glass rod ive found. should i look at something longer or would a 7' handle them fine?

Man I must be really wrong, I've been cranking deep, extra deep and ultra deep cranks with rods as short as 5'6" since 1980.

By no means can you NOT fish any type of crankbait deep or shallow on a certain length rod.  I personally like a 7'6" rod for throwing a mid depth crankbait.  A 7 footer will work just fine though!

The major advantage of a longer rod is casting distance. A longer cast will keep the bait in the zone longer, and get it a little deeper. And yes, 7' will work.

7' will work just as everyone has said. K_Mac is right about the casting distance and keeping the bait in the zone longer. I prefer a 7'10" rod when deep crankin, but its all personal preference. I also fish the Tennessee River Systems where deep crankin is a way of life so I have 3 deep crankin rods. Two are 7'10" and one is 7'4". I can say that I can cast farther with the added length of the 7'10", allowing me to keep bottom contact longer. If you are more comfortable with a 7' rod though that is what you should get. I used to wouldn't use a rod over 7', I was pretty intimidated by them. Now I only have two rods under 7'. A jerkbait rod and a 6'9" rod for weightless senkos that I use in close quarters. If you do decide to get a longer rod, you will get used to it and I think you will appreciate the added casting distance.
