I was recently watching a video that brought back some wild childhood memories, so I thought I would share and compare. This could be stories of my experiences and no one else’s or it could be a very common stories of adolescence and immaturity. Here are several of the stories I am referring to.

While fishing as a kid fish was on some occasion very slow. I mean not even a bite for hours so being a kid with a short attention span I start exploring the shore line looking for everything and anything at the same time. I notice a snake swimming across the top of the water (6-7 foot black snake) across the entire lake coming my way. I grab a popper and popped it a couple of time right in front of it.......just to see what would happen (eyes rolling). BAM, splash, roll and oh crap it ate it. Then reality sets in and I am like awww &^%$ what am I going to do now. About a hours later and with the help of a couple fellers snake is unhooked and I will leave it at that. ;) Lesson learned! Don't mess with the snakes!

On another fishing trip a couple years later while on a boat on a different body of water I am working a torpedo bait and have a turtle following my bait. The turtle is curious, I am curious, my buddy was curious. I keep the bait just out of reach and a then all of a sudden a flying groundhog flew by and my bait stopped for a second. Blamcracklez "CRAP turtle on"! It was a pig too. We landed it and for like 2 hours we are fighting to get the treble hook out without getting bit. What a nightmare, took us till dark and ended our fishing trip! It didn't help that it was also 100 degrees out. Once again lesson learned "Don't mess with the turtles".

Recently while in a tournament I was fishing a grass bank where a giant Blue Herring stood. I casted a weedless frog in the grass past the bird when all of a sudden the bird jumped up and flew by dive bombing my frog. I pulled my bait away very quickly. Needless to say from past experiences there was no way in the world I was going to bring that behemoth in the boat. See I did learn a lesson!!

Lesson learned..  Any similar stories anyone?

Was fishing a senko this past weekend and felt a weird bite and set the hook and reel in and on the end is a 2.5 foot snake that is stuck to the senko by its fangs. After a few minutes it wiggles off and shoots off into the water

Tight lines

I hooked a duck with a crankbait at a camp ground and the thing went balistic so i cut the line. Then I caught a monster snapping turtle in a marina on a weedless worm, thing was a tank. Quick release with pliers.

I wish I had that type if luck. Mine was hook way to well. It was hissing and it's gogo gadget neck was popping in & out. It was kind of freaky getting the needle nose pliers near it's mouth while my friend was trying to hold it still.

Yellowstone River, Yellowstone Park: 2 lb. trout wallowing on the surface attached to a fly, which was attached to a 5x leader, which was attached to a fly rod. Enter center stage: a pelican with an 8 ft. wing span and a mouth about 3 feet long. Needless to say, the battle lasted about 30 seconds, but it's end result was never in doubt.

Cal delta, late sixties, fishing for stripers with sardines. Casted out and had a sea gull grab it in mid air. Quite the fight untill I tried to take the hook out. Ended cutting the line.

This happened twenty years ago.  While fishing Alligator Alley in Broward County  I was throwing a worm across a wide canal.  Just as I cast the lure, a Red Tailed Hawk flew into the  line and the crease between its wing and the body.  I watch the lure go up into the air as he continued to fly and the lure sink into the crease.  The bird made a sudden stop and came down on its back, on top of the water. What a sick feeling went through my body!   As we pulled it in, it stayed on it's back with the talons  opening and closing right at us.  We had no clue what to do.   We got close to shore and the bird moved into the low trees.  Like a miracle from god, the bird became unhooked, sitting in the tree.  When we came back an hour later, there was no sign of the bird,  the Hawk was gone.  It made our day knowing the bird flew off, after this awful accident. :green-bird:

Screw all these snake stories. I'm terrified of em'.. I dont want any part of that.

If you see a water moccasin cruising along the surface. A nice half ounce rattle trap raked over its back will usually snag him. I've caught 8 of them this year doing that. Reel em in and blow there heads off. Rat shot works wonders on ol' Mr. No Legs. I tell you what they fight like champs once you hook them.

On a side note I'm thinking of selling snake skin wallets or belts if your interested. I got 18 snake hides from this year and this past hunting season.

Sounds like some water you'll never have to worry about me being there.

If it wasn't so close to me. And didn't have such enormous bass I wouldn't be there. I hate the dang snakes. That's why I kill them whenever I'm out there.
