BasshunterJGH Posted May 27, 2014 Posted May 27, 2014 I have a 7.1:1 reel I'd like to use for jigs, worms and possibly spinnerbaits. Is a 7.1:1 to fast for spinnerbaits? Also what line do u recommend for this combo. I was thinking sunline 16 lb fluoro? Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted May 27, 2014 Super User Posted May 27, 2014 I use a 7:1 for spinnerbaits and it works great, I haven't been using flouro for my spinnerbaits I've been trying out 20lb braid lately but 16lb flouro should be fine but I would prefer a little smaller. But Idk what conditions your fishing or what you want your bait to do. Quote
Super User BrianinMD Posted May 27, 2014 Super User Posted May 27, 2014 I use a 7:1 for spinnerbaits and it works well. Line depends on cover, I will use anywhere from 12 to 20 pound flouro. The one caveat for the reel ratio is larger spinnerbaits or larger blades. I can get tiring if you are using the high speed ration when using these. Quote
Super User MCS Posted May 28, 2014 Super User Posted May 28, 2014 Yes works good, throw 3/8 and 1/2 oz mostly all day on 30# braid. 1 Quote
