Man this is a great crankbait I bought one and went to our pond just to tune it and caught three bass in three cast. It didnt run good right out of the box (the bass didn't care haha) but after messing with it the thing runs great! If anyone hasn't tried one yet go get one!

My favorite square bill congrats on the new found lure

It's just my opinion but great crankbaits don't require tuning out of the package.    I have a bunch of the KVD series baits and they do catch fish, but the LC RC 1.5 is still top dog in my opinion.

Most crankbaits I buy and use don't run good out of the package, there are plenty of very good crankbaits I own that didn't run good out of the box. Ima have to disagree with ya on that but too each his own!

No crank I have performs better than the LC RC1.5, but the KVD1.5 is right up there. Love these baits. Just bought some of the rattling version from BPS, but haven't gotten them wet yet...

As for tuning, I have only ever had to tune Rapalas and a few Normans out of the box, never a KVD1.5. I think that the one you got was a fluke, not the norm at all.  I have about a dozen of them, and each of them ran true right from the get-go.

Are they very good or great, there is a difference.

I haven't had to tune any KVD cranks yet at all.

I guess I just got the bad egg of the bunch then lol it kept wanting to go to the left alittle outta the box

The difference between the two baits is about $10.00. For that, I can tweak a few crankbaits. :eyebrows:

I agree, but you have to admit, there is something special about the LC RC 1.5

Oh, I agree totally. They're great baits. I got a couple of them in a group of used crankbaits and they were very productive and well-made lures, I just can't convince the Scotsman in me the let go of $16.00 per bait.

I've came close to getting a couple of LC RC 1.5 but always talk myself out of it... I might go pick one up eventually because everyone worships it haha

You won't regret it, in fact I would say that there is a good chance you would end up buying more.

Never ever caught a fish on the Kvd 1.5... Probably not using the right color...

While color can make a difference you could probably catch bass on any color combination, just some colors might produce more than others under certain conditions. How are you fishing your squarebills? Squarebills like other crankbaits work best when deflected off cover, bumped on the bottom or just ripped through grass really anything that changes the direction/speed of the bait erratically. Dont be afraid of throwing squarebills into the thicker stuff because the squarebill is really good at deflecting and getting through cover

I use them same way that I have used for my other crankbait like the XCS/FX Knuckle 60s/Askas, which is same as what you have suggested. I have caught plenty of fish with those but none with the KVD. It's gone to a point that I'm pretty sure I have the wrong colors for the KVDs.

Hmm well I guess you should just experiment with some colors if you feel that's the problem, I like chartreuse with a black back, maybe you should give that color a try... What colors have you been trying?

I just have the Chili Craw color. I will give that chartreuse color a shot.

Chart black back is the one I've done the best with too.

I've found that the chartreuse with black back color combo is a great all round choice. It works in the majority of fishing situations down here in central florida. If I remember correctly, KVD won a few tournaments in Florida using that specific color option.
