I picked up a spro bronzeye shad the other day and took it out on the water. First few cast it worked well retrieving but then it wouldn't stay on top of the water. Within a few feet of my retrieve it took on water and sank like a brick. Is it my technique or the lure that's an issue?

Sounds like the lure to me. As expensive as spro lures are I would call/email the company.

X2 mine seem to be impossible to sink
