Super User Catch and Grease Posted May 22, 2014 Super User Posted May 22, 2014 What's your favorite rig for cat fishing? I like the good ole slip sinker rig! Quote
Mccallister25 Posted May 22, 2014 Posted May 22, 2014 I use the same for cat fishing, which I rarely do.. I may try to target some this weekend!! Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted May 25, 2014 Global Moderator Posted May 25, 2014 Stout hook with a chunk of fresh cutbait and a barrel swivel, no weight. Cast it out and let the wave action wash it around or current carry it if it's slow enough. That's how I caught my PB blue and flathead (both over 50lbs and both on the same day). For livebaiting flatheads or in current the standard slip sinker rig gets the nod. 1 Quote
blongfishing Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Usually striper rig. 1 ounce or 2 ounce weight then a swivel them a hook with cut bait Quote
Super User Catch and Grease Posted June 1, 2014 Author Super User Posted June 1, 2014 A few days ago I tried a rig my friend tied on for me, I can't exactly remember how he had it set up but it had to do with a slip bobber and a treble hook underneath it with just the weight of the bait we were using. Worked pretty good for some channel cat Quote
USMCKoontz Posted June 2, 2014 Posted June 2, 2014 I use Carolina Rig or Santee-Cooper Rig myself.... If fishing really deep, might try on the 3 way rig. Quote
crazyjoeclemens Posted June 3, 2014 Posted June 3, 2014 Depends on where I'm fishing. I use the ol slip sinker rig a lot on rivers, since the current bounces the bait around some. Bank fishing on a lake, I like to use a drop shot rig, to keep the bait up off the bottom some. From a boat, I like to use a modified drop shot rig, with a bottom bouncer weight on it, so I can drift across the flats with em. Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted June 3, 2014 Super User Posted June 3, 2014 I usually use a c-rig, with a 1/2 ounce weight, if I am fishing on the bottom. If I am using a bobber I'll go a little lighter. Quote

Worked pretty good for some channel cat Sounds like a Santee Cooper rig 1 Quote
qball090872 Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Good old slip sinker rig and when possible a bobber rig but thats very soldem Quote
powerduster Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Yep, same with me, but I always called it the fishinder rig instead of the slip sinker rig. I like to use shrimp for both bullheads and channel cats. When targeting bigger ones, I like large cutbait. 1 Quote
grizzly1654 Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 I use the c-rig also but i like to use chicken liver or a live bluegill for bait. I like to throw out some jugs also. Quote
Kevin Beachy Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 A big hook, a bluegill's freshly chopped off head and cast it out and let it sit there............. Quote
Super User everythingthatswims Posted September 14, 2014 Super User Posted September 14, 2014 No weight if possible, otherwise as little weight as possible on a carolina rig. The most important part of a catfish rig is fresh cut bait! Quote
Josh Smith Posted September 14, 2014 Posted September 14, 2014 Well dang. I just use a casting sinker or rubber core sinker and a hook loaded with worms or chicken gizzard or liver. You all fancy it up! Josh Quote
BasshunterJGH Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 I use a Carolina rig. 1/2-1 ounce weight, bead, swivel, owner circle hook, and piece of cut bait or chicken gizzard. Quote
