But after hearing about it so much recently in different threads on here I am wanting to start trying it. I have a few questions first though

What line conditioner would you recommend?

I read someone say that line conditioner can eat away at fluorocarbon and you should not use the two together, but I have seen a lot of other people say it is great to use together so which is it?

How do you go about applying it?

My last question is how often do you apply it?

thanks guys!

KVD line conditioner is formulated for fluorocarbon fishing line and is applied several hours before fishing.

TangleFree line conditioner was formulated for monofilament line and works good for both FC and mono. Tangle Free can be applied while you are fishing as often as needed and prefer it over KVD.

Stay away from Real Magic, it will gum up your reel lubricants.

Kvd line and lure gets my vote. It is just a crazy good product. Apply it the night before fishing if possible, it gives it time to soak into the line. Then you dont really need to reapply, but some folks do every few months.

KVD line and lure is worth every penny. I spray it on the night before, and once while fishing.

KVD L and L is a necessity in my fishing, it makes FC line much more manageable and that helps make for a pleasurable day of fishing.

Another for KVD L&L, I apply it when I spool up and the night before a trip. Works great.

Kvd because Kevin makes it himself!

But seriously, it's good stuff

I like Real Magic. I've never had an issue with anything I've sprayed it on including FC.

KVD L&L is the best line conditioner. I apply it when spooling new line on a reel and then re apply it the night before I head out fishing.

Every few months? More like every outing. I am addicted to that stuff.

Then you should look into buying it by the gallon...and im being serious. It was like $64 or so last i looked for a gallon. If u have a few friends to split it with then it gets super cheap.

I do have it in the gallon size....it just makes me use it more because I have so much of it.

Here is why KVD L&L is so good:

KVD Line & Lure is a special polymer blend that becomes part of the fishing line it is applied to. Other line treatments you find on the market are primarily silicone oil and solvents. Silicone oil only temporarily coats the line and solvents can damage line. Silicone oil rapidly comes off the line (on your hands and in the water), requiring re-treatment of the line after just a few casts.  The special polymers in Line & Lure are hydrophobic (water repelling) and very slippery. It doesn't allow water to draw back on to the reel spool, which eliminates the line drag that a "wet" spool has. It also protects the line from wearing out as quickly as un-treated line because it resists the abrasion that wears line out.  It contains no oils or solvents as in Reel Magic that can build up and collect dirt like silicone/oil treatments will.

It's kinda like when I was a kid and got a new box of nightcrawlers, I would put big 'ol fat worms on the hook because I had plenty. But by the end of the day if the fish were biting and I was catching them on tiny worm nibbles.

KVD. I apply it the night before. Love the stuff. Use it on line, the reel, rod eyelets.
