It's only about 3-4 feet deep at best, but it's loaded with some big bass, but also "Full of snags, fallen timber and logs galore. I lost 3 good spinner baits and a lot of patience last week over there! What lures would be best suited for this type of fishing? The bass are ultra aggressive & downright ornery! Thanks Reg Quote

Ok...that's about what I thought. I met an idiot working in a Tackle Shop a few days ago trying to convince me to go back at them with 12 lb mono...says that he flips heavy cover with 12-14 lbs,,,,yeah, right! Quote
Super User Sam Posted April 21, 2014 Super User Posted April 21, 2014 Wacky Senko with a 1/0 or 2/0 WEEDLESS hook. Shaky head with a trick worm rigged weedless. Unweighted Texas rig with a worm or fluke or creature bait. Small jig with a plastic pig. Be stealth. Have plastic enter water as quiet as possible. Stay back from the bank. Wear dark clothes. Walk at least 50' from the bank when moving from place to place. Have a needle nose pliers with you and your fishing license. Use your polarized sun glasses. Check your line for knicks, abrasions and cuts and if you feel any cut it out and retie. Send pics! 1 Quote

frogflogger Posted April 21, 2014 Posted April 21, 2014 swim jig with a fast retrieve - frogs - buzz baits - these are personal choices - there are several options but you're going to need to keep their heads up and coming toward you rather quickly to be successful which requires stout tackle - but I love your situation. 1 Quote

Thanks Reg Check out the *** jig,it will not hang up! I have fished them on Table Rock in some bad brush piles and it walked wright out of brush with no problem! Quote

Super User WRB Posted April 21, 2014 Super User Posted April 21, 2014 Florida rigged (pegged weight) Brush-hog type soft or a buzz bait. The bass are aggressive the buzzer is good, hit on top, easier to land them. The Brush hog type baits displaces a lot of water slides though wood fairly good and will get bit. I would go with straight braid under these conditions, you heed to get the bass out of the brush. Tom Quote

You will lose some but they are great around wood cover. Just pay attention and don't pull when your snagged and you won't lose much Quote
