Ima Bass Ninja Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 I know Alton was sponsored by ardent but noticed at the St. John's elite event on TV he appeared to be using and abu garcia revo sx. I can't find anywhere about him changing and I can certainly u stand not using a sponsors bait but why would you use a reel that wasn't for your sponsors? Quote
jhoffman Posted April 19, 2014 Posted April 19, 2014 Speculation here would be they'd don't make that ratio Quote
Super User Jrob78 Posted April 19, 2014 Super User Posted April 19, 2014 Alton isn't with Ardent anymore. His contract expired and wasn't renewed, for whatever reason. Quote

I also noticed that Jeff Kriet is fishing Shimano Metaniums now. He's been fishing Revo's for years. Dean Rojas and Mike McClelland aren't with Quantum anymore either. Contracts expire and they decide to go their separate ways, for whatever reasons. Quote

I know Rojas is planning on throwing Duckett's casting reels when the come out. During the classic, he was using an Exo but also used a Duckett. Quote
Grantman83 Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 I noticed that as well. Some changes I also noticed. 1. Rojas left quantum but was still throwing exo reels as of the classic. Must still be waiting on the new duckett reels. 2. Alton throwing revos 3. Mclleland now throwing Cabelas reels. 4. Kriet throwing Shimano instead of Abu 1 or 2 years ago, Abu dumped a bunch of Their longtime staff including Jay Yelas, Larry Nixon, Boyd Duckett Amoung others. Contracts change, people move on etc. However I do laugh when a guy changes companies and says that he has used their products for years. Quote
slimshad Posted April 24, 2014 Posted April 24, 2014 Give me a reel and I will fish it. Put logos on my shirt and boat, whatever. I don't have tatoos but I would try it. I would think all the brands can throw a bait and have a good drag system. I have caught more fish back in the day on a Zebco 33. Could you imagine KVD trying to burn a spinnerbait with a 33? He would look like a sowing machine... Quote
