I need some help and opinions from anyone. I have a 100.00 gift card to bass pro that I plan on using tomorrow when I take my son. If you had to decide which of the 2 reels is better which would it be? Im not worried about spening the extra money on the revo s so long as its a better reel. Thanks for your opinions.

I've owned a few of the Revo S reels and I've loved them but not had the new generation Revo. The BPS PQ is a good reel but I prefer Abu over BPS. Just my preference. My PQ was nice looking and did cast well but it started making a grinding noise on the first trip out. This did not seem to affect the performance which was great but it bothered me enought to return it. I upgraded to the Johnny Morris reel and had issues with that one as well. I won't order another BPS reel. You may have better luck than I did and others seem to love them too. Just my two cents. BPS was a pleasure to deal with I will say.

Why not hold out for the Curado G when they go on sale for 100?  That would be the best bang for your buck, but if your preference is only between these two reels then I'd say the price difference between them doesn't make the Revo S/Citica G range a lot better reel.  (features..etc.)  As for durability of a PQ look at Goose52s post regarding the PQ 5 year challenge.  Of course for me, not that the PQ sucks..I just like the shape of the Citica G better than a PQ, especially for techniques where I like to palm the reel.  So in the end it is whichever one your like that feels right, because either reel I'm sure will be on par performance wise.

IMHO The PQ is one heck of a reel, for the 60.00 some dollars during the trade in period you cant beat it no matter what you compare it too.

I have a first gen Revo S and just dont like it, but its the first gen.

The current model is supposed to be one of the best Revo's made.

Not to confuse your decision making process, but if it were me I'd do what Im on my way to do, for 14.00 more get the JM Sig Seies reel.

If the sale wasn't on, Id either wait for the Cursdo G to go on sale as was suggested, or get what felt better in my hand.

I like the revo S over the PQ, but they both will work just fine, just comes down to personal preference...

I have the revo s and its a great reel and casts a mile but always like buying bps products because if something ever happens to it within 12 months then I just take it back and exchange it for a new one no questions asked.

Mechanically, they are almost identical and both will last if cared for. The Revo has a better drag material and I think is a little lighter. The PQ has dual braking if that's important to you. The PQ on sale is a huge bang for the buck. There is no clear cut winner between the two. It comes down to personal preference.

Thanks for all the replies everyone. I guess I will have to think about that curado. I already have one and that thing seems like it will last forever. So with that being added in there at that price is there anything better?

I personally LOVE my Revo S. I actually just bought a 2nd because I loved the first so much. So my lineup now consists of 2 Revo S generation 3s.  I have not had veery good luck with Bass Pro brand reels, however I know a lot of people love them.  Mine seemed to last about 13-14 months before pooping out. Anyway, I love everything about the Revo S and would strongly recommend it.

Good advice right here. I own 3 of the Revo's and can attest that they will last if you take care of them. I bought 2 of them the year they came out (2007 I believe) and they work like the day I got them.

I know I'm gonna get some people that won't like what I say, but I don't think you would like the curado g anymore than the pro qualifier. I have 2 of them along with a couple lews and a citica e. I have liked every shimano product I have ever used and am not bashing them what so ever.

The dual braking on the pro qualifier is nice and it's a super easy reel to cast, very used friendly. With it on sale, you can't go wrong. It's a well built reel, don't let the price fool ya.

Could get the pro qualifier and let him pick some good terminal tackle or some neat baits out with the extra money. Just my two cents

I have 3 pro qualifiers and think they are a good reel but I decided to go with a revo 3 s this time. It'll be here Monday. :)

I just looked online and they don't have the PQ listed on sale. Its still at 99.99. Is that an in-store only sale?

They are on sale for 79.99 in store, they give you an option of buying a 5$ zebco to donate to children also. With the purchase of the 5$ reel you get a additional 10$ off. So that'll bring the reel down to 74.99.

Yes. It is right now. I think they did the same thing last year. It'll be online when the spring classic ends. I've always bought my pro qualifiers in the spring from the website when it was 80 bucks.

Out of curiosity does anyone know where there is a video where they go into more detail about the braking system on the revo s? I know it has 3 centrifugal breaks and 3 pitch breaks. Sounds like the pitch breaks are just centrifugal breaks that work during the entire cast.
