papajoe222 Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Despite my best efforts, I believe I'm fighting a loosing battle against these two foes. I removed the wheels off my boat trailer to ward off an temptation to hook up and head south. I have my charge cards in my saftey deposit box to avoid lapses in my fight against The Monkey, but I ran accross two gift cards from BPS and five minutes later I placed an order for a bunch of gear I really don't need. Guess I'm just a lost cause............Now where did I put those lug nuts?????? 3 Quote

Wbeadlescomb Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I went to academy last night and walked around for about 45 mins and left with one pack of swimming flukes. I'm really about set for the next for the next month or so when the frog and buzzbait bite turn on Quote
McAlpine Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 There is only buy or buy not. There is no need. :-P 1 Quote
MarksHooked Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 My problem is there are still so many things I 'need'! The bait monkey is always showing me new things online, and pointing to empty spots in my tackle box where they would fit perfectly! Quote
Super User Felix77 Posted March 5, 2014 Super User Posted March 5, 2014 After all that I have already spent my money on I am NOW heading to BassPro on Saturday for their spring classic. I do not have a single "need" but yet I am going there and I am guaranteed to buy something. LOL Quote

Super User Goose52 Posted March 5, 2014 Super User Posted March 5, 2014 If I plotted my tackle purchases on a calendar, there certainly would be a spike in the winter months...and a trough in the prime fishing months. Seems like buying tackle becomes a substitute for catching fish during those winter months... 2 Quote

BassnChris Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 I will not be the one! I say again, I will not be the one! Be the one to put the fishing tackle and equipment workers out of work. I will buy everything I possibly can.....needed or wanted......makes no difference. Buy, Buy, Buy! 1 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted March 5, 2014 Super User Posted March 5, 2014 Cabin fever has been driving me nuts for a couple of weeks now, but I have a lot going on right now, so the bait monkey has been quiet. Quote
spartyon8 Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 You know it is bad when you clear out Dick's clearance rack of Havoc baits only to find you pick up 5 of one color instead of 5 separate colors. Quote
BassThumbAddict Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Hey i'm just boosting the economy jack! Quote
FrogFreak Posted March 5, 2014 Posted March 5, 2014 Here's what I like to do. I go on TW.com and load up my cart with what I want and then I quick close the window before I buy anything. My wife just shakes her head at me.I also have a Cabelas about 3 miles from my house and I wander in there so much that I can tell the workers where to find things. They just moved stuff around and I was lost!! The wife finally had enough when I suggested we go to Cabelas for date night. Quote

mjseverson24 Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 the next best thing to bass fishing is buying bass fishing gear, and talking about bass fishing... buying gear is just how I keep my sanity during these ridiculously long and cold MN winters... Mitch 3 Quote
crankcaster100 Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 I bought more things today: jigs / spinners / weights Quote
mnbassman23 Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 Plus Is a battle I may never win . . . A-Jay That right there is funny chit. My wife thought I was the only insane guy on the planet pitching jigs in the winter. This here is proof that I am normal. Thanks buddy! As for the bait monkey.. He has all of us Northerners by the so buy stuff and be happy. 2 Quote
Basseditor Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 We southern folks are not immune to the bait monkey, but we're fishing and losing stuff already so we have to restock. Texas BASS Nation state championship in 2 weeks. Gotta be ready for 6 days fishing. Plus I need OB oil, at least 4 gallons. Cash register is cha-chinging. OH, and the Mexico fishing license. Gas, lodging, etc. I'll blow my whole play money budget this month. I'd better win some back so I can go to Fork two weeks later. Quote
coryn h. fishowl Posted March 6, 2014 Posted March 6, 2014 In my case, it's less of a monkey, and more of a rabid, silverback, gorilla. 2 Quote
