I got a 100 yard spool of 12# line in this month's LTB. I read one person's opinion on it, which is that it's junk. I was just wondering if anyone else had any experience with it before I spool up a baitcaster with it.

I used it for about 2 months last season. I didn't really care for it, really stiff and backlashes, then breaks if you manage to get the knot out. It gets very weak if it gets bent sharply. I took it off and put on some seaguar invizix. Awesome line in every aspect and 10x better than viscous

I can't speak to that particular brand, but I used the Vicious Pro Fluorocarbon in 15 and 17 lb tests last year on a couple of rigs and I didn't have any issues with those two tests in that brand.  I used the line on a Curado 50E, mostly pitching in the 30' to 60' range.

I can't really compare it to INVISX, I've only used INVISX in 20 lb test.

The original viscous was junk. Worst fluoro I have ever used. It was big and totally unmanageable. The one pro that people say is that is strong. Duh, it's line diameter is usually much larger than other companies and as such has a higher breaking strength.

I honestly had much better results with Berkely Vanish and that is not sarcasm.

Yeah i tried some flouro, terrible mistake....  not to mention it's priced in the mid-range of some of the types of line???  Just picked up some invisx red label, looking forward to giving that a shot....  i wouldn't even mess with it if i were you....  that little 100 yards will cause you more problem than it is worth....

Thanks  guys... I still am not quite sure what to do with the stuff. I thought about giving it a try, but I'm kind of afraid too now. The line actually feels a little stiff.

Yea you may as well use it as backing. The stuff is terrible. My fishing buddy got a new rod last year and put viscous 15lb test on it and was having a hard time with it, I just figured he didn't set the brakes up right on the reel, so I cast with the reel a few times and it was the most terrible line I've ever felt, words cannot describe it. I don't ***** much and can use about any line, but this stuff was borderline unusable.

Is it the original fluoro? If it is, the regular 12lb Vicious fluoro is my go to fluoro for finesse jigs and smaller T-rigs. It's super strong and very abrasion resistant. It does break if you kink it (haven't found a fluoro that doesn't) and if you go above the 12lb it gets very difficult to manage it without stretching it out first. If you don't want it send it to me, I'll be more than happy to have it :)

Actually, the reason I didn't get more specific in my original post was about what type of line it is, is that I wasn't even sure if it was mono or fluoro. It doesn't say anywhere on the spool. It says, "Vicious Fishing Ultimate". After visiting the vicious website, it looks like all of the lines in their "ultimate" category are mono. I could be wrong though.

Vicious Ultimate is copolymer mono. I actually like the Vicious Ultimate for certain things. Vicious flouro not so much.

I used the Vicious Ultimate last season quite a bit. I found that the 12lb test was a good overall line, easy to manage, held up well. Once you go above 14lb however I thought the quality declined, much stiffer, lots more memory.

Basically if i got a free spool of 12lb Vicious Ultimate Mono i would have no hesitations spooling it up. I actually have it on 2 of my baitcasters right now and one spinning outfit. If i were paying for line I think you could probably find some better line for cheaper or similar prices.
