When I get my taxes back, I need some new tires for my truck. I have a 2005 silverado 2500hd. It sits stock height, just leveled on the front. Right now Im runnin 33x11.50r18 tires on a -12 offset wheel. I plan on trying to run a 33x12.50 tire if I can fit em. Does anybody know if I can fit a tire that wide on my truck with the wheel being -12mm? Right now my tires scrub while at full lock, but thats about it. I know Ill most likely have to trim some plastic, but not sure on how much. Thanks!!

I think you should be ok.  You're going to rub, that's for sure, but if your truck is leveled you should be just fine.  I'd have the place installing the tires measure just to be safe.

Since it is an HD you will have a better chance than you would with a 1500. I had 33x12.50's on my 1500 and they rubbed pretty bad and that was after trimming. It too was leveled. However, I think that 05 HD sits up a little higher. I put a 5" lift on my truck and went to a 305/55 and it clears just fine now. I will probably go to a 295/65 when I get my next set of tires.

If they rub now and you want to go wider it is going to be worse.  I am not a big truck guy but i see the same problems with jeeps and the only way to truly solve it is to get new wheels and tires with the appropriate backspacing or use wheel spacers (I am not a fan although many are).

dont let any garage talk you into any kind of spacers, they are hard on front hub bearings.modern GM's the front hub bearings are not an issue i guess just something to be aware of.I have changed dozens.

Thanks for all the input. Im not a big fan of spacers. That wont happen. I guess if I get the wider tire, ill just have to deal with whatever happens as far as scrubbing. I could probably just get another set of the same size I have now, I just like the wide look.
