A total of a couple of hours fishing in 2 days caught my first and second bass ever at the same lake using floating square bill and a spinner bait.  The first one was on the square bill but when I went to reach for the fishes lip to pull out the lure he came lose and fell back in the water :cry4:  ( a net would of been good). The second one was caught on the spinner bait, and I made sure I set that hook like a mofo. For not a big fish that lm hit that lure like a freight train it even jumped out of the water when I set the hook. I did  get a picture with the beast :eyebrows:  Went back today around 4:30p and 2 more strikes, but didnt get the hooks set(still learning).  One of the strikes was on top of the water on my floating round bill. Man Im really enjoying this :respect-059:

Here is a pic of my second fish (sorry for the crappy quality)

Your hooked for sure, time to eat, sleep and dream bass fishing 24/7 from now on. You will have cabelas and bps catalogs in your bathroom too it's the law. It took just a jump out of the water....that's how it all begins. Welcome to the club.

Where in northern Jersey?

That's some bassy looking water behind you! Good for you on catching your first bass and getting your son involved while you're doing it!

Way ahead of you, already have the Cabelas and BPS app on my phone and stored in my favorites on my laptop.

Congrats. Man that area behind you looks like heaven!

Its a nice lake. it actually opens up into the main lake to the right of me in the pic. You're kind of limited though because it's mostly private residentual. So for me not having a boat I have to make due. I actually caught that bass from a emergency only boat ramp wich is where the pic is taken, its actually a public park on the lake.

Especially with all those docks and decks hanging over the water... man if I had a boat. My son loves it, he's 3 and has his Spiderman fishing pole, and I've been teaching him how to cast it... well lets just say he's only 3, but he knows how to retrieve the line though.

Yeah, I always liked fishing, Done plenty of saltwater fishing when I lived in Florida, but this is my first foray in bass fishing... pretty much first in freshwater fishing
