Super User Ratherbfishing Posted October 2, 2013 Super User Posted October 2, 2013 Besides whatever lures the bait monkey can already coax you to buy, do you have any specific lures that you collect? I'm considering beginning a rat-l-trap collection and was curious to see what other collections are out there. Quote

Super User Ratherbfishing Posted October 2, 2013 Author Super User Posted October 2, 2013 Jerkbaits in general, Megabass Ito Vision 110 in particular. Whew! Too rich for my blood. But they do look like nice baits! Very pretty. I like the idea of collecting Rat-l-traps because over the years they introduced and discontinued countless colors and I won't run out of options any time soon. And I can readily find them at garage sales and flea markets, etc. Quote

wnybassman Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 I have a small collection of "High Rollers". Most of them are when Smithwick had them, but a couple other companies have also marketed the bait. The coolest ones I have are a pair of signed baits by the original designer. 2 Quote
Super User bigbill Posted October 3, 2013 Super User Posted October 3, 2013 When I purchase one new different lure and find out it catches fish right away I go back for more to cover all water conditions. I think I have six high rollers. But I mainly use bomber crankbaits but I also have a collection of Norman thin n, Norman fanboy crankbaits in all there colors too. I try to keep a collection of colors too. From Brown's, to chartreuse, to baby bass, to dark green, to red craw, to silver shad, chrome shad, citrus, chartreuse blues, a firecraw in the cranks. My spinner bait colors are easy. The white, red, chartreuse, black skirts colors. The inline spinners in black, firetiger, white, brown, gray tails all work. It's not only a collection of different lures I also have the different colors in the same lures too some are more than the others. I like to use the correct lure in the right color so the water conditions match too. Since I have a collection of most of the affordable lures that work I went after a few high rollers too. I do plan on purchasing more of the higher priced lures too in the near future. My only problem that I see is when the manufacturer discontinues my crank bait model and colors. Then I scramble to buy up what I can find. I hate to lose any of my hottest colors in my dependable go to baits when they still are working at catching fish. So every time I find a new fish catching lure, every time I place a lure order I reorder more of my proven New lures too so I'm stocked up on them. Quote
Super User *Hootie Posted October 3, 2013 Super User Posted October 3, 2013 Jigs. Can't help myself! Now, I can relate to that one....lol. And the weird part is, I don't use jigs that much. Good intentions, no follow through. I am basically a plastics guy. Hootie 1 Quote
Super User Raul Posted October 3, 2013 Super User Posted October 3, 2013 I love Rapala Shad Raps in all colors, sizes, variations and types. Megabass Type X, those frogs are sooooooo koool ! Quote
tholmes Posted October 3, 2013 Posted October 3, 2013 My collection is mostly baits that I can't catch anything with. I do have a few old Bagley, Rapalas and other crankbaits from back in the '70s and 80s, but not really much of a collection. Tom 1 Quote
Super User bigbill Posted October 3, 2013 Super User Posted October 3, 2013 I have a collect of Terry Clark of Tclark custom lures work. I had him painting pike lures in all the bass colors. He has painted regular standard bass lures in awesome bass colors too. I'm not sure wether to frame them as lure art work or use them. These look so awesome they could be shown in an art gallery in New York city. I am a fishing tackle hoarder I admit it.No bait monkey here it's a bait gorilla by now maybe a bait king Kong. I collect plastics, cranks, topwater and right now I'm getting into fishing with jigs. I have six Plano 3700 plastic boxes with Siebert Outdoors jigs in them. If the world ever comes to an end if I survive I can fish for many decades we'll past my date with Destiny. My kids will use it. Quote
