I'll use a Roostertail from time to time.  I've had them catch fish for me when the bass wouldn't bite anything else.  It's also nice that several other species seem to like them and you can pick up a bonus fish or 2.  For bass I use 1/4 oz.  When they stock trout in the fall/winter in the creek by my house, a 1/8 Roostertail is my go-to lure.  Unfortunately I have a bad habit of getting them snagged, whether on the bottom or in trees and I don't have any right now but trout stocking time is coming so I'll be stocking up soon.

There are some creeks in the town where my grandparents live and in one of those creeks the water spills over an old concrete dam into a large deep pool I will always fish some type of inline spinner. I really like rooster tails for trout and the occasional smallmouth. I usually fish rooster tails in streams with trout/smallmouth. My favorite color is black with a silver blade. Let water depth decide what weight. I usually carry 1/16-1/4 oz.
