Paula Stout Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 Going through my late father's things and I found this Ambassadeur reel. t is in the box for a 5600WS... the reel looks a little used.. so I imagine he put the older reel in the box for whatever he bought next. Does this reel have any value if it is working? If so, where would I sell it? I know nothing about these things. I can send photos if that helps. thanks. Paula Quote
Jolly Green Posted September 2, 2013 Posted September 2, 2013 The L in between the C and the 3 denotes a particular retailer. (CK3 models come from K-Mart, for example.) I believe it is otherwise identical to any other C3 reel of its generation. Comparable reels retail for $90 - $100 new. You may be able to find more specific information with searches that include the number stamped on the underside of the foot, but my guess is that it's worth around $50 give or take. If you happen to come across the 5600WS that used to be in that box, I would put roughly the same value on it. Good luck! Quote

Those C3' s are tanks and may even out last you. I've never heard of someone's C3 giving out on them, and as any one who has seen the "For Life" documentary knows that the C3's have some pretty cool stories behind them. 1 Quote
pbizzle Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 If you're really keen on selling it then you may want to post some pictures of it so that we can see what shape it's in. Quote
Smallmouth Hunter Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 It is probably worth about $50-$70. If i were you i would keep it to hand down in the family. Quote

Yeah, if any one of your kids, nephews, or whatever fish it would be an awesome thing to give to them. That reels great for crankbaits and good for catfish. Quote

Paula Stout Posted September 3, 2013 Author Posted September 3, 2013 I don't fish. Without grandpa around, my kids don't fish. I dunno. I have sooooooo many keepsakes from his life, this just didn't seem like one to hang onto. He passed away 7 years ago. I can't even begin to explain the amount of tackle I have. I keep thinking I'll make some crazy chandelier out of it all or something. Will post a pic tomorrow. Thanks for all the input. Makes me think I need to go back to his shop and really LOOK at some of those other "treasures" he had stashed. I only grabbed a few boxes of things that were in the house thinking those were the ones he cared most about. One thing that cracked me up was he had a flat bottom crusty boat with a motor on the back that I found the invoice for.. the motor was in the tens of thousands??? Is that even possible? Cost as much as my whole car. lol Quote
