dreamertino Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 What's the issue im using silver thread fishing line 8lb line and was fishing a shakey head and hooked a small fish 9-10 inch fish and had him on for a few seconds and he jumped and the line broke what gives Quote
Super User Sam Posted August 29, 2013 Super User Posted August 29, 2013 Are you "burning" the line when tying the knot? If the main line is curling above the knot then you have burned the line. This happens when you do not wet the line when tying the knot. If not, can you tell what knot you are using? Quote
dreamertino Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 No the line is not curling above the knot and an improved clinch knot Quote
RyneB Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 hmmm, I use an improved clinch as well and I have never had an issue with the knot. They say not to use it with braid, but I haven't had a single problem tying that knot on braid. Before tying a bait on, rub your fingers on the line to make sure there isn't any frays or anything. dreamertino Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 That's the crazy thing Ryneb I was fishing around rocks so every 5 casts I was checking and no knicks or frays Quote
Super User BassinLou Posted August 29, 2013 Super User Posted August 29, 2013 I agree with Sam. If you think that was not the case, maybe your knot slipped, for not cinching down enough?? Quote
dreamertino Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 That may be the case idk all when i got home i retied 3 times each time with a small tug it breaks Quote

dreamertino Posted August 30, 2013 Author Posted August 30, 2013 I just put the line on today my first time putting line on my reel Quote
Avalonjohn44 Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 I agree with aquaholic - had to be a bad spool. I tie the improved clinch and the sandiego jam knot, and have only broken at the knot two or three times ever. Quote
